Calvert Spensley
Calvert F. Spensley (January 2, 1846 – January 17, 1924) was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate. Biography Spensley was born on January 2, 1846, in Stockton-on-Tees, England, where his father worked as the world's first rail station agent. He moved to Shullsburg, Wisconsin in 1849 and to Mineral Point, Wisconsin in 1857. Later, he attended the Eastman Business College and Columbia Law School. During the American Civil War, Spensley served in the Union Army as a sergeant. On October 13, 1869, Spensley married Clara J. Cobb. They had three children. Spensley died on January 17, 1924. Political career Spensley was a member of the Senate representing the 28th district from 1893 to 1896. Previously, he was Mayor of Mineral Point from 1877 to 1878 and Chairman of the Iowa County, Wisconsin Board of Supervisors from 1875 to 1876. Howard Spensley
Howard Spensley (1834 – 8 August 1902) was an Australian lawyer and politician and a British Liberal politician. Spensley was the son of William Spensley of Edmonton, Middlesex. He was educated at a mercantile academy and emigrated to Australia in 1859. He worked as a journalist in Melbourne for several years. In 1864, he was called to the bar of the Supreme Court of Victoria and in 1871 was elected a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly representing Portland. He was Solicitor-General of Victoria from 1871 to 1873, and Commissioner for Victoria to the London Exhibition of 1873. He married Martha Staughton from Exford, Victoria in 1868. He returned to England, where he was called to the bar at the Middle Temple in 1876 and was representative of the colony of Victoria at the Geographical Congress held at Venice in 1881 and Commissioner for Victoria at the Amsterdam Exhibition of 1883. James Richardson Spensley
James Richardson Spensley (17 May 1867 – 10 November 1915) was an English doctor, footballer, manager, Scout leader and medic from Stoke Newington, London. He is considered to be one of the "Fathers of Football in Italy, Italian football", due to his association with Genoa C.F.C., Genoa CFC and his contribution to the modern day variation of the game in Italy.
