Spencer Dunn (snooker Player)
Spencer Dunn (born 25 November 1969) is an English former professional snooker player. Career Dunn was born in 1969, and turned professional in 1992. At the end of the 1992/1993 season, having failed to progress beyond the qualifying rounds of any tournament, he entered the 1993 World Championship. There, he won his first qualifying match against Ian Bullimore 5–1, before embarking on a run of another ten successive victories to reach the last 32 at the Crucible Theatre. Stourbridge
Stourbridge is a market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley in the West Midlands, England, situated on the River Stour. Historically in Worcestershire, it was the centre of British glass making during the Industrial Revolution. The 2011 UK census recorded the town's population as 63,298. Dave Harold
David Harold (born 9 December 1966) is an English former professional snooker player from Stoke-on-Trent. He was known by the nicknames of "the Hard Man" and "the Stoke Potter" (conflating his home city's pottery industry and his profession of potting snooker balls). He was also the first player on the television circuit to sport a plaster on his chin as a guide for his cue, which is a practice now adopted by Graeme Dott. As an amateur he played as David Harold, but after turning professional in 1991 he was registered as Dave Harold. He won one ranking title, reached two further finals and several semi-finals, and spent four seasons ranked among the top 16. Harold was renowned for both his very strong defensive play and his unusual cue-action, with which he is able to unleash a great deal of power on a shot without using backswing on the cue. Ronald Antonio O'Sullivan (born 5 December 1975) is an English professional snooker player who is the current world champion and world number one. John Giles (born 24 July 1969) is an English former professional snooker player. Career Born in 1969, Giles turned professional in 1992. In his debut season, he won the majority of the matches he played, but due to the vast number of players competing in qualifying for each event, did not progress beyond the last 128 of any of the ranking tournaments for most of that season. He won six matches in the 1992 Dubai Classic but was defeated by Mark Davis 1–5 in the seventh qualifying round, losing his eighth match in that year's Grand Prix also to Davis by the same scoreline, and lost 4–5 to Andrew Cairns in the last 128 at the British Open. Nigel Bond
Nigel Bond (born 15 November 1965) is an English former professional snooker player. Bond competed on the main tour from 1989 to 2022, and was ranked within the world's top 16 players between 1992 and 1999, peaking at 5th for the 1996–97 season. He reached the final of the World Championship in 1995, where he lost 9–18 to Stephen Hendry. He won the 1996 British Open, defeating John Higgins 9–8. Having reached three other ranking tournament finals, Bond won the 2011 Snooker Shoot-Out and, in 2012, defeated Tony Chappel to win the World Seniors Championship. He fell off the tour following his loss to Lukas Kleckers in the first qualifying round for the World Championship in 2022, and subsequently announced his retirement. Mark Bennett (snooker Player)
Mark Bennett (born 23 September 1963) is a Welsh former professional snooker player from Newport. Career Bennett was born on 23 September 1963 in Blackwood, Monmouthshire. After winning the Welsh amateur title in 1985, he turned professional the following year by qualifying through the pro-ticket series. He was ranked in the top 32 for four seasons between 1991 and 1995, reaching a high rank of 24 in 1993. Throughout his thirteen-year professional career he never reached a ranking final, but did reach several tournament quarter-finals and semi-finals. His last run to a ranking semi-final was in the 1996 Grand Prix. On the way he knocked out four seeded players, Peter Ebdon 5–3, Chris Small 5–0, Steve Davis 5–3 and Tony Drago 5–1, before losing 3–6 to Euan Henderson in the semi-finals after having led 2–0. Colin Roscoe
Colin Roscoe (born 30 June 1945 in Connah's Quay, Flintshire) is a Welsh former professional snooker player. Career Born in 1945, Roscoe won the Welsh Amateur Championship in 1981 and soon after turned professional. He reached his highest ranking of 39th for the 1984/1985 season, and progressed to the last 32 stage of ten ranking tournaments in the following eight years. Roscoe first made any notable progress at the 1982 International Open, where he beat John Dunning and Doug French but lost 0–5 to Steve Davis in the last 32. Two years later, he reached the last 16 at the 1984 Classic, leading Terry Griffiths 2–0 but losing 2–5. Roscoe's career appeared to be over in the mid-1980s, as he played in few tournaments and did not perform well in any. Bill Oliver (born 3 December 1948) is an English former professional snooker player. Biography Bill Oliver was born on 1 December 1948. As an amateur player, Oliver beat Ian Williamson 7–5 in the final of the 1981 Pontins Autumn Open. He became a professional snooker player in 1983 but never reached the last-16 of a major tournament. His highest ranking was 77. He owns a snooker club in Plymouth. He made his television debut as a player in the 1984 World Doubles Championship, partnering Roger Bales in a 4–5 loss to Terry Griffiths and John Parrott in a match that finished at 12:30 am. Oliver beat former champion Ray Reardon in the second qualifying round of the 1988 World Snooker Championship. Mehmet Husnu (born 25 July 1972) is a Cypriot former professional snooker player. Career Born in 1972, Husnu turned professional in 1991, becoming the first Cypriot professional snooker player in the history of the game. Husnu's career highlights came in his first two seasons; he reached the last 32 of the 1992 European Open, losing 0–5 to Jimmy White, and the same stage of the 1993 Welsh Open, where he was defeated 1–5 by James Wattana. He also made a 147 break during the 1999 China International tournament. Husnu's opponent in his first qualifying match for the 1993 World Championship was Spencer Dunn, who defeated him 5–2; the match was Dunn's seventh en route to appearing in the last 32 at the Crucible Theatre.
