Specialty Vehicle Engineering
SRT (Street & Racing Technology) is an American high-performance automobile group within Dodge and the wider Stellantis North America family. As well as Dodge, they have previously tuned and produced cars for Chrysler and Jeep. Origins of the brand came back to 1989 when a team known as "Team Viper" was put together to develop the Dodge Viper. It later merged with Team Prowler, the developers of the Plymouth Prowler, to become Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE). This was renamed Performance Vehicle Operations (PVO) from January 2002 until around 2004. Since all PVO vehicles used the SRT brand, the development team itself was renamed SRT in 2004. SRT heavily tuned and produced vehicles for the Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep brands, including Police models for Chrysler/FCA Fleet Division. The World Gasoline Engine is a family of straight-4 piston engines, based on the Global Engine Alliance design. Three engines have been produced: a 1.8 L, a 2.0 L, and a 2.4 L. With 1.8 L variant being used on vehicles sold outside of the United States. The initial design of the engine block and cylinder head was handled by Hyundai as part of the Global Engine Alliance. The Dodge Caliber is a compact hatchback manufactured and marketed by Chrysler's Dodge division from model years 2007 to 2012, replacing the Dodge Neon and Chrysler PT Cruiser. The Dodge Neon SRT-4 is a sport compact car manufactured by Dodge from 2003 to 2005. A turbocharged variant of the Neon, the car was developed by DaimlerChrysler's in house PVO (Performance Vehicle Operations) tuner group. The fifth generation Ram pickup was introduced by FCA US LLC in January 2018 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.
