Specialist (Singapore)
In the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Specialist (rank), specialists are the group of ranks equivalent to non-commissioned officers in other armed forces. This term was introduced in 1993, for a more "positive" rank classification and shorter waiting time for WOSPEC (Warrant Officers and Specialists) career soldiers' rank advancements. In the SAF, warrant officers are not considered specialists. Like many other modern militaries, the specialist corps forms the backbone of the military. Specialists are the supervisors for the training and discipline of the enlisted men, and as well as the supervisors in the use of weapons and equipment, drill and ceremonies. The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) are the military services of the Republic of Singapore, responsible for protecting and defending the security interests and the sovereignty of the country. Singapore Civil Defence Force
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) is an uniformed organisation in Singapore under the Ministry of Home Affairs that provides emergency services such as firefighting, technical rescue, and emergency medical services, and coordinates national civil defence programme. History Singapore's first Fire Committee was formed in 1855. Prior to this, fires were attended to by uniformed groups which included the police, sepoys, marine soldiers and even convicts. On 7 September 1869, the Governor Major-General Sir Harry St. George Ord enacted the Fire Ordinance and appointed the Colonial Engineer as Chairman of the Fire Commission for Singapore. SAFTI Military Institute
The SAFTI Military Institute (SAFTI MI) is a military institute of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) comprising five schools: the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College, three SAF Advanced Schools, and the Officer Cadet School. Pasir Laba Camp
Pasir Laba Camp is a military base of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) located in Western Water Catchment, Singapore. It is home to the Specialist and Warrant Officer Institute, where specialists (non-commissioned officers) and warrant officers are trained. There are other SAF training centres and units based in Pasir Laba Camp as well. Specialist Cadet School
The Specialist Cadet School (SCS) is the military training centre for the Singapore Armed Forces' specialists, the equivalent of non-commissioned officers (NCOs) in other countries' armed forces. Made up of twelve companies divided into three schools (SCS I, SCS II, and SCS III), it is located in Pasir Laba Camp in the Western Water Catchment. Staff Sergeant
Staff sergeant is a rank of non-commissioned officer used in the armed forces of many countries. It is also a police rank in some police services. Specialist is a military rank in some countries’ armed forces. Two branches of the United States Armed Forces use the rank.
