Special Reaction Unit
The Special Reaction Unit is a part of the Presidential Security Group, which serves as its main counter-terrorist unit among the other nine organic units. It's not to be confused with the Special Reaction Unit of the Philippine National Police's Maritime Group, since they share the same name. From time to time, the SRU has been called in to assist other Philippine law enforcement/military units in internal security activities and duties when their presence is needed. History The Special Reaction Unit was organized in 1988 with the officers and enlisted personnel from Presidential Security Group's Echo Company, Presidential Guards and 14th SR Company, First Scout Ranger Regiment, Philippine Army. Presidential Security Group
The Presidential Security Group, shortened as PSG, is a Philippine close protection agency. It is the primary agency concerned with providing close-in security and escort to the president, their immediate families, former presidents of the Philippines as well as visiting heads of state. The PSG is stationed at Malacañang Palace, the official residence of the president. Members of the PSG also accompany the president on both domestic and overseas trips. History While the present-day force was established in 1987, the protection of the president and the presidential family has always been the duty of the Armed Forces of the Philippines since 1897. Philippine National Police
The Philippine National Police ( fil, Pambansang Pulisya ng Pilipinas, acronymed as PNP) is the armed national police force in the Philippines. Its national headquarters is located at Camp Crame in Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, Quezon City. Currently, it has approximately 220,000 personnel to police a population in excess of 100 million. The agency is administered and controlled by the National Police Commission and is part of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). Local police officers are operationally controlled by municipal mayors. DILG, on the other hand, organizes, trains and equips the PNP for the performance of police functions as a police force that is national in scope and civilian in character. United Defense Manufacturing Corporation (UDMC) is a Philippine defense contractor and firearms manufacturer based in Parañaque, Philippines. It provides the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Philippine Coast Guard, amongst others, with firearms and other tactical equipment.
