Special Operations Command (Denmark)
The Special Operations Command ( da, Specialoperationskommandoen; SOKOM) is a command of Danish Defence part of the Defence Command. SOKOM was established in 2014 to bring the Jaeger Corps ( da, Jægerkorpset) and the Frogman Corps ( da, Frømandskorpset) under one command. It is based at Aalborg Air Base. Role SOKOM was established on 1 September 2014 as part of the Danish Defence Agreement 2013-2017; Major General Jørgen Høll was appointed its first chief. SOKOM was created with the aim of "strengthening and increasing the future capabilities within special operations, including capabilities of the Air Force". Danish Defence ( da, Forsvaret, fo, Danska verjan, kl, Illersuisut) is the unified armed forces of the Kingdom of Denmark charged with the defence of Denmark and its constituent, self-governing nations Greenland and the Faroe Islands. The Defence also promote Denmark's wider interests, support international peacekeeping efforts and provide humanitarian aid. The Special Forces Command ( sv, Specialförbandsledningen, SFL) is a command in the Swedish Armed Forces charged with overseeing the various special operations components. Its organized to be able to command operations of Swedish special forces units, but also to be able to develop units, capabilities and equipment. The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM or SOCOM) is the unified combatant command charged with overseeing the various special operations component commands of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force of the United States Armed Forces. The command is part of the Department of Defense and is the only unified combatant command created by an Act of Congress. USSOCOM is headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. Sirius Dog Sled Patrol
The Sirius Dog Sled Patrol ( da, Slædepatruljen Sirius), known informally as ''Siriuspatruljen'' (the Sirius Patrol) and formerly known as ''North-East Greenland Sledge Patrol'' and ''Resolute Dog Sled Patrol'', is an elite Danish naval unit. It conducts long-range reconnaissance patrolling, and enforces Danish sovereignty in the Arctic wilderness of northern and eastern Greenland, an area that includes the Northeast Greenland National Park, which is the largest national park in the world. The Royal Danish Navy ( da, Søværnet) is the Naval warfare, sea-based branch of the Danish Defence force. The Royal Danish Army ( da, Hæren, fo, Herurin, kl, Sakkutuut) is the land-based branch of the Danish Defence, together with the Danish Home Guard. For the last decade, the Royal Danish Army has undergone a massive transformation of structures, equipment and training methods, abandoning its traditional role of anti-invasion defence, and instead focusing on out of area operations by, among other initiatives, reducing the size of the conscripted and reserve components and increasing the active (standing army) component, changing from 60% support structure and 40% operational capability, to 60% combat operational capability and 40% support structure.
