Speak n Spell Music (or Speak n Spell Music Publishing Pty Ltd) was an Australia and New Zealand based Record Label, Artist Management, International Touring Company and music licensing company. The record label was based in Collingwood, it was founded by Jonathan Wilson, David Shrimpton and David Benge. It released over 120 titles that were distributed via Inertia and Universal. Some artists released on Speak n Spell included Editors, Midlake, School of Seven Bells, Warpaint and Dappled Cities. The management company looked after four acts signed to both independent and major labels locally and internationally in the UK, Europe and the USA. The Management roster included Cut Off Your Hands (NZ), Violent Soho, Jack Ladder (AMP Winner 2008), Kid Sam Kid Sam are a Melbourne-based duo consisting of cousins Kieran (vocals & guitar) and Kishore Ryan (drums). Timothy Kenneth Rogers (born 6 April 1983), known by his stage name Jack Ladder, is an Australian rock music singer-songwriter, guitarist and composer. His music is characterised by his baritone voice and poignant observations on love and death, often featuring gallows humour. Triple J (stylised in all lowercase) is a government-funded, national Australian Radio in Australia, radio station intended to appeal to listeners of alternative music, which began broadcasting in January 1975. Kid Sam
Kid Sam are a Melbourne, Victoria, Melbourne-based duo consisting of cousins Kieran (vocals & guitar) and Kishore Ryan (drums). The band's first performance was in January 2006, and they started getting airplay on Triple J's "unearthed" program in 2008. Their debut self-titled album was released in 2009 to positive reviews and they went on their first national headline tour in 2010. Kid Sam were nominated for a J Award and the Australian Music Prize. Their final live performance was in August 2010 in Melbourne supporting Grizzly Bear (band), Grizzly Bear and Here We Go Magic at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne. Both cousins moved on to other projects, with Kishore drumming for bands such as Seagull, Otouto and Where Were You At Lunch since then. Violent Soho
Violent Soho were an Australian alternative rock band that was formed in 2004 in the Brisbane suburb of Mansfield, Queensland originally under the name of "showroom". For the majority of the band's existence, the line-up was composed of Luke Boerdam (lead vocals, guitar), James Tidswell (guitar, backing vocals), Luke Henery (bass, backing vocals) and Michael Richards (drums, backing vocals). Their sound has been compared to that of 1980s and 1990s alternative rock bands such as the Pixies, Mudhoney and Nirvana.
