Spartans Football Club Women's and Girl's is a women's football team that plays in the Scottish Women's Premier League, the top division of women's football in Scotland. Spartans F.C. Women is part of Spartans F.C. in North Edinburgh and play and train at the club's training facilities. History Founded in 1985, the club was known as Hailes United, Edinburgh Star, Tynecastle, Bonnyrigg Rose and Whitehill Welfare over the first twenty years of its existence. While operating as Whitehill Welfare the club was promoted to the Scottish Women's Premier League in 2004. After two seasons as Edinburgh Ladies in 2006–07 and 2007–08, the club came under the auspices of East of Scotland Football League club Spartans F.C. in 2008 and adopted their current name. Ainslie Park
Ainslie Park is a football stadium located in Edinburgh, Scotland, which is the home ground of Lowland Football League club Spartans and the club's women's team in the Scottish Women's Premier League (SWPL). In addition, Scottish Professional Football League club Edinburgh City have shared the ground since 2017 during the redevelopment of Meadowbank Stadium, and East of Scotland Football League club Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale also played there during the 2021–22 season. Sarah Isabel Clelland (born 11 August 1997) is a Scottish football who plays for Spartans in the Scottish Women's Premier League (SWPL) as a full back. She has also played international handball for Scotland and Great Britain. Club career Clelland played for four years at Rangers before she joined Glasgow City in August 2015. The Scottish Women's Premier League Cup or SWPL Cup is a league cup competition in women's football in Scotland. The Cup is open only to the teams in the Scottish Women's Premier League. There are four rounds, including the final. The competition was launched in 2002–03 along with the Scottish Women's Premier League, and the Cup's first winners were Kilmarnock.
