Spartanburg County School District 2
Spartanburg County School District 2 is a public school district in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, US. The district is Led by superintendent Lance Radford and consists of 14 schools. The district also has a maintenance and transportation department to serve the students and staff. Students in the district have access to the Swofford Career Center- it is shared with Spartanburg County School District 1. The district serves much of northeastern Spartanburg County, including all of Boiling Springs, Chesnee and Mayo, most of Valley Falls, and a portion of Southern Shops. In the 2018-1South Carolina State Report Card the district saw great results in academics and other measured areas. One point of emphasis is the district's graduation rate of 90.5%, well above the state average of 81.1%. The district is proud of its academic and athletic accolades. Chesnee, South Carolina
Chesnee is a city in Spartanburg and Cherokee counties, in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The population was 868 as of the 2010 census. History In the early 20th century, the Chesnee Land Company bought a sizeable acreage at what is now Chesnee. A leading member of the company was John B. Cleveland of Spartanburg. Cleveland named the company - and later the town - after his great-grandmother, Margaret Chesnee, who was born in Scotland. She married Alexander Vernon, also born in Scotland. The Clinchfield Railroad ran an excursion train over the newly laid rails to Spartanburg on October 23, 1909. The Chesnee post office was established in 1910, and the town was chartered in 1911. Early businesses included a hotel, pharmacy, cotton mill, and lumber mill. The Cowpens National Battlefield and Zeno Hicks House are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Boiling Springs High School (South Carolina)
Boiling Springs High School is a public high school located in Boiling Springs, South Carolina. A new campus for the high school opened in the fall of 2019. The campus was funded through community support for a bond referendum passed in the fall of 2016. Boiling Springs, South Carolina
Boiling Springs is a census-designated place (CDP) in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 8,219 at the 2010 census. Namesake The area became known as Boiling Springs because of a small spring in its heart that, up until the land was commercially developed, actually appeared as if it were boiling and would sometimes shoot water into the air. The geyser diminished gradually over the years. In the 1930s it had become a shallow, barely bubbling stream and today the water is still. The spring is located at the corner of McMillian Boulevard and Highway 9 on the same lot as the (formerly) Bi-Lo Shopping Center and the Verizon Mobile store. Once the land was developed and the shopping center was built, the springs ceased to boil. After the spring was cleaned up and dug out, a small park was built around it with benches, flags, and a memorial to a citizen of Boiling Springs. History The origins of the paper lie with ''The Spartan'', a weekly paper reportedly first printed in about 1842â43. In 1844, this was renamed ''The Carolina Spartan''.
