''Spankmaster'' is the sixth solo studio album by American rapper and producer Kool Keith. It was released on June 5, 2001, via Overcore with distribution by TVT Records. The record features production and guest appearances from Jacky Jasper and Esham. Music and lyrics Kool Keith signed to Gothom/Overcore, with distribution through TVT Records in 2001.Allmusic's Jason Birchmeier says that ''Spankmaster'' "heads even further toward insanity than his preceding trilogy of albums for Funky Ass foreshadowed", referring to Keith's albums ''Sex Style'', ''First Come, First Served'' (released under the alias Dr. Dooom), and ''Matthew''. Kool Keith
Keith Matthew Thornton (born October 7, 1963), better known by his stage name Kool Keith, is an American rapper and record producer from The Bronx, New York City, known for his surreal, abstract and often profane or incomprehensible lyrics. Kool Keith has recorded prolifically both as a solo artist and in group collaborations. Kool Keith is generally considered to be one of hip-hop's most eccentric and unusual personalities. Kool Keith was a cofounding member of Ultramagnetic MCs, whose debut ''Critical Beatdown'' was released in 1988. Reel Life Productions, also known as Gothom Records, is an independent record label based in Detroit, Michigan most associated with the hip hop subgenre horrorcore. The label was founded in 1989 by James H. Smith and his younger brother, rapper Esham. Since its formation, RLP had released much of Esham's discography, and had been home to a number of other artists, including Natas, Dice, Mastamind, T-N-T, Kool Keith and The Dayton Family. While the label was once cited as a vibrant example of independent success in Detroit hip hop, Reel Life Productions' peak in success occurred under distribution through TVT Records and an association with Overcore Records. Sean Merrick, known professionally over his career by the pseudonyms Jacky Jasper, H-Bomb and HDV is a Canadian-American rapper, record producer and celebrity gossip blogger. Merrick is best known for his work with Kool Keith under the name H-Bomb as a part of rap groups KHM (later known as Clayborne Family) and 7th Veil, as well as for performing as Jacky Jasper on Kool Keith's album ''First Come, First Served'' and the Analog Brothers album '' Pimp To Eat''. In Canada he is also known as a major contributor to the country's early hip hop scene while performing as HDV, as well as for his 1990 single "Pimp of the Microphone". Esham
Esham is an American rapper from Detroit, Michigan. Esham released his debut studio album, '' Boomin' Words from Hell'', in 1989. Since then, he has gone on to release 15 studio albums in total and is best known as a representative of the hip hop subgenres horrorcore and rap rock. In 1992, he co-founded the horrorcore group Natas. He and his brother James Smith founded and ran the Detroit hip hop label Reel Life Productions. As one of the first rappers to receive attention in the city, Esham was often cited as a major influence on another Detroit horrorcore act, Insane Clown Posse. Esham is known for incorporating elements of rock music in his beats, and his lyrics cover a number of subjects, including death, drug use, evil, paranoia and sex.
