Kim Spalding (born Ross F. Latimer; December 7, 1915 – November 18, 2000) was an American film, television and theatre actor. Life and career Spalding was born in Washington, Missouri, the son of Ross Latimer. He began his film career in 1940 with an appearance in the film ''Rancho Grande''. Spalding then appeared in the 1942 film ''Shepherd of the Ozarks'', playing the role of a soldier. He worked on several jobs such as an auto mechanic, lithography seller, photographer, professional boxer and a upholsterer. Spalding also had his own musical ensemble. Volney Morgan Spalding (January 29, 1849 – November 12, 1918) was an American botanist affiliated with the University of Michigan for twenty-eight years, and for most of this period was head of the botany department. Spalding was born in East Bloomfield, New York, the son of Frederick Austin and Almira (Shaw) Spalding. His father was of English descent and his mother of Scotch-Irish descent. He received a preliminary education in the public schools of Gorham, New York, and Ann Arbor, Michigan. He entered the University of Michigan in 1869 and was graduated Bachelor of Arts in 1873. His further preparation for professional life included work in Cryptogamic and Physiological Botany at Harvard University, in Anatomy at Cornell, in Histology at the University of Pennsylvania, and in Plant Physiology at the University of Jena. Thomas Spalding (March 25, 1774 – January 4, 1851) was a United States representative from Georgia. He was born in Frederica, Georgia, St. Simons Island, Glynn County, Georgia. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1795, but did not practice. He engaged extensively in agricultural pursuits. Susan Marr Spalding (, Marr; July 4, 1841 – March 12, 1908) was an American poet of the long nineteenth century. Spalding was best known and least known by her poem, "Fate". The poem itself was widely copied and claimed, and its title was sometimes changed to "Kismet", but not until 1893 was Spalding's right of authorship absolutely settled. Philip Spalding (born 19 November 1957, London, England) is an English bass player. He is best known as a session musician and player of Fender Precision Bass guitars. He has played and appeared with performing artists such as Mick Jagger, Seal, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Elton John and Randy Crawford. At an early age he was a successful child model and appeared in a television advertisement for Smiths Crisps. Spalding was a computer operator for a high street bank, before joining rock artist Bernie Tormé in 1976. Later he joined Original Mirrors before beginning a collaboration with Toyah, in December 1980. Whilst with The Toyah band he recorded and co-wrote songs for studio albums and toured with the band, until 1983. Since then he has been a member of GTR and Mike Oldfield's band. Phebe Estelle Spalding
Phebe Estelle Spalding (1859 – 1937) was an American writer and educator. She was born in Westfield, Vermont, the third of four children of Benjamin P. Spalding and Ann Folsom. She began teaching grammar school at the age of 16, sometimes serving as principal for nearby schools. As a young adult, she moved to the Dakota Territory where she continued teaching. In 1886 at the age of 27, she received a scholarship to study at Carleton College. She graduated with a B.L. in 1889. Spalding joined the faculty of Pomona College in 1889, becoming the only woman teacher at the facility. She was hired as a teacher of English and modern languages, but would also serve as the Dean of women at the college and as its librarian. She established the first library in Claremont with a contribution of 200 books she brought with her from Carleton College, which were added to the existing collection of 300 books.
