2010 Beach Handball World Championships
The 2010 Beach Handball World Championships was a twelve-team tournament in both men's and women's beach handball, held at Antalya in Turkey from 23 June 2010 to 27 June 2010. It was the fourth edition of the event. Matches were played in sets, the team that wins two sets was the winner of a match. When teams are equal in points the head-to-head result was decisive. Format The twelve teams were split into two groups of six teams. After playing a round-robin, the three top-ranked teams advanced to the main round. Every team kept the points from preliminary round matches against teams who also advanced. In the main round every team had three games against the opponents they did not face in the preliminary round. The top four teams advanced to the semifinals. The three bottom-ranked teams from each preliminary round group were packed into one group. The points won against the teams who were also in this group would be valid. The 2022 Men's Beach Handball World Championships will be ninth edition of the championship to be held from 21 to 26 June 2022 at Crete, Greece under the aegis of International Handball Federation (IHF). Beach Handball
Beach handball is a team sport where two teams pass and bounce or roll a ball, trying to throw it in the goal of the opposing team. The game is similar to standard handball, but it is played on sand instead of on a solid floor. Because the ball loses most of its bounce on sand, there is little to no dribbling, and players instead perform more passing as the rules of travelling still apply. Description Matches are played as best two-out-of-three sets. If teams are tied at the end of a regular set then the teams play for a golden goal. If the teams are tied at the end of 2 sets then the teams will participate in a tie breaker. The tie break involves a goalie throwing the ball to their own player while that player attempts to score one-on-one with the opposing goalie. During regular play, if the goalkeeper scores a goal this counts as two points, compared to a normal goal scored by an outfield player which counts as 1 point.
