Spain Men's National Basketball Team
The Spain men's national basketball team ( es, Selección Española de Baloncesto) represents Spain in international basketball competitions. They are managed by the Spanish Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Spain. Spain is the current World and European champion. Spain has appeared 32 times at the EuroBasket, winning four gold medals, six silver medals, and four bronze medals. They have also competed at the Summer Olympics 13 times, with three silver medals and one bronze medal as their accomplishments. Group A of EuroBasket 2022 consisted of Belgium, Bulgaria, Georgia, Montenegro, Spain, and Turkey. The games were played from 1 to 7 September 2022 at the newly built Tbilisi Arena in Tbilisi, Georgia. The top four teams advanced to the knockout stage. 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Group J
Group J of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup was the second stage of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup for four teams, top two teams from Group C and two from Group D. The results of round one were carried over. The teams played against the teams from the group they have not faced before, for a total of two games per team, with all games played at Wuhan Gymnasium, Wuhan. Marc Gasol Sáez (, ; born January 29, 1985) is a Spanish professional basketball player for Bàsquet Girona of the Liga ACB. The center is a two-time All-NBA Team member and a three-time NBA All-Star. He was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2013, and won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019. Gasol was drafted 48th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2007 NBA draft. After having his rights traded to Memphis in February 2008 in a deal that sent his older brother Pau Gasol to the Lakers, he signed with the Grizzlies and remained with the franchise until being traded to Toronto in 2019. Daniel Díez de la Faya (born 7 April 1993) is a Spanish professional basketball player for Saski Baskonia of the Spanish Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. He also represents the Spain national team. Professional career Spanish League Díez started his playing career in 2005 in the U-14 Adecco Estudiantes, team that left to join the U-18 Real Madrid Baloncesto in 2009. The EuroBasket 2022 qualification was a basketball competition that was played from November 2017 to February 2021, to determine the 20 FIBA Europe nations who would join the automatically qualified co-hosts Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy, and Germany at the EuroBasket 2022 finals tournament. Pre-Qualifiers The EuroBasket 2022 Pre-Qualifiers were played by 17 teams over three rounds. The best eight teams advanced to the EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers. First round The pre-qualifiers first round was played by nine teams: Five eliminated in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup pre-qualifiers, and four teams that did not enter in those qualifiers. Alberto Abalde Díaz (born 15 December 1995) is a Spanish professional basketball player for Real Madrid of the Spanish Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. The men's basketball tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics was the 20th edition of the event for men at the Summer Olympic Games. It was held from 25 July to 7 August 2021. All games were played at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2020, but on 24 March 2020, the Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this pandemic, the games were played behind closed doors. The United States won their 16th overall and fourth consecutive gold medal, after defeating France in the final. Australia won the bronze with a 107–93 win over Slovenia, winning its first medal in men's basketball after a series of losses in bronze medal games. Ricard Rubio Vives (born 21 October 1990) is a Spanish professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
