Space Invaders
is a 1978 shoot 'em up arcade game developed by Tomohiro Nishikado. It was manufactured and sold by Taito in Japan, and licensed to the Midway division of Bally for overseas distribution. ''Space Invaders'' was the first fixed shooter and set the template for the shoot 'em up genre. The goal is to defeat wave after wave of descending aliens with a horizontally moving laser to earn as many points as possible. Designer Nishikado drew inspiration from North American target shooting games like '' Breakout'' (1976) and ''Gun Fight'' (1975), as well as science fiction narratives such as the novel ''The War of the Worlds'' (1897), the anime ''Space Battleship Yamato'' (1974), and the movie ''Star Wars'' (1977). To complete development of the game, he had to design custom hardware and development tools. Upon release, ''Space Invaders'' was an immediate commercial success; by 1982, it had grossed $3.8 billion (equivalent to over adjusted for inflation ), with a net profit of $ ...

Space Invader (album)
''Space Invader'' is the fourth solo album by former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley, released in the UK on August 18, 2014 and in the US on August 19 via eOne Music. His first album of new studio material since 2009's '' Anomaly'', it was produced by Frehley, and recorded at The Creation Lab in Turlock, California. Reaching No.9 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart, it is the only solo album by a past or current Kiss member to attain a US top ten position. Artwork The cover art was by fantasy artist Ken Kelly, who painted covers for the Kiss albums ''Destroyer'' (1976) and ''Love Gun'' (1977). "It was very exciting when I was approached with the idea of doing an album cover for Ace," he said. "I am very pleased with the results and proud to play a part of Ace's continuing successful career!" Reception "His music still has the raw edge and offbeat sensibility that he brought to early Kiss and the best of his subsequent work…" opined ''Classic Rock''. "The title track is quintessential ...

Invader (other)
''InVader'' is the fourth album by Finnish glam metal band Reckless Love, released on 4 March 2016 through Spinefarm Records. Track listing All songs written by Olli Herman, Pepe Reckless, and Ikka Wirtanen, unless otherwise noted. Reception Writing for '' Classic Rock'', Johnny Sharp pointed out the pop elements of several songs as "flagrant attempts to make radio-friendly sing-alongs" and ultimately said "we realise all this, as someone once sang, ain't nothin' but a good time. That's what they'll tell the taste police anyway." On Dangerdog, Craig Hartranft said the boys "write some quality rock n roll tunes. Damn catchy rock n roll tunes", praised their individual performances and said "it's probably fair to say that there's not a single bad song on this album". Nick Balazs from '' Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles'' also noted the pop and even rap incursions of the band, but felt they "retain the fun, positive-natured attitude of Reckless Love". He concluded his review by sa ...

Transposon
A transposable element (TE, transposon, or jumping gene) is a nucleic acid sequence in DNA that can change its position within a genome, sometimes creating or reversing mutations and altering the cell's genetic identity and genome size. Transposition often results in duplication of the same genetic material. Barbara McClintock's discovery of them earned her a Nobel Prize in 1983. Its importance in personalized medicine is becoming increasingly relevant, as well as gaining more attention in data analytics given the difficulty of analysis in very high dimensional spaces. Transposable elements make up a large fraction of the genome and are responsible for much of the C-value, mass of DNA in a eukaryotic cell. Although TEs are selfish genetic elements, many are important in genome function and evolution. Transposons are also very useful to researchers as a means to alter DNA inside a living organism. There are at least two classes of TEs: Class I TEs or retrotransposons generally ...

Space Invaders (Atari 2600 Video Game)
''Space Invaders'' is a 1980 video game based on Taito's arcade game ''Space Invaders'' (1978) for the Atari 2600. It was developed and released by Atari, Inc. and designed and developed by Rick Maurer. The game is based on the arcade game in which a player operates a laser cannon to shoot at incoming enemies from outer space. Maurer's version has unique graphics and offers some gameplay variations. These include a two-player mode and variations that allow for invisible enemies and moving shields, and for enemies shots to zig zag and potentially hit players. Prior to working at Atari, Maurer developed games at Fairchild Semiconductor. When joining Atari, he was impressed with the ''Space Invaders'' arcade game and began developing it in his own time at the company. The game had little interest from the staff, until Ray Kassar saw how well ''Space Invaders'' was doing in arcades, which led him to get the rights to the game for the Atari 2600 and to Maurer completing his code. ''S ...
