Goskino USSR (russian: link=Yes, Госкино СССР) is the abbreviated name for the USSR State Committee for Cinematography (Государственный комитет по кинематографии СССР) in the Soviet Union. It was a central state directory body of Soviet film production. History The first main film production and distribution organisation in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic until 1924 was Goskino; this was succeeded by Sovkino from 1924 to 1930, and then replaced with Soyuzkino in 1930 chaired by Martemyan Ryutin, which had jurisdiction over the entire USSR until 1933, when it was then replaced by GUKF (The Chief Directorate of the Film and Photo Industry, largely headed by Boris Shumyatsky); which, again, was replaced in 1939 by the Central Committee for Cinema Affairs until 1946, when it was replaced by the Ministry of the Cinema. Konstantin Shvedchikov
Konstantin Shvedchikov (1884–1952) was a Soviet official who served as the head of Sovkino's board of directors from 1926 to 1929. Following this post he was assigned to other state institutions which were not related to film industry. Biography Shvedchikov was born in 1884. In 1926 he was appointed head of the Sovkino which was a state-owned joint-stock company which oversaw the film production and other related activities and controlled film distribution in the Russian Republic. During his tenure the number of films produced in the Soviet Union increased, and the share of the foreign films screened was also improved. He was replaced by Martemyan Ryutin as the head of Sovkino. However, Ryutin was removed from the office soon, and Shvedchikov temporarily headed the administrative unit of the Sovkino for a while. Semyon Dukelsky
Semyon Semyonovich Dukelsky (Russian: Семён Семёнович Дукельский) (1 August 189230 October 1960) was a Soviet statesman and communist official, who ran the Soviet State Committee of Cinematography briefly during the late 1930s. Early career Semyon Dukelsky was born in Yelizavetgrad, in Kherson province, Ukraine, the son of a minor official. In 1906, he graduated from the 3rd grade of the 4th grade Jewish state school in Yelisavetgrad. He worked as a pianist in cinemas in various cities, before being drafted into the Russian Imperial army in 1915. He joined the Bolsheviks in 1917, after the February Revolution. In 1918, he worked in the administrative of the newly created Red Army, under Leon Trotsky, until Trotsky's deputy, Ephraim Sklyansky complained "I don't need such an assistant". Roskino (Russian: Роскино), formerly Roskomkino (Роскомкино), is a state body representing Russian industry of audiovisual content on the international markets, a national operator for the promotion of films, series and animation as well as the creative potential of Russian talents abroad and co-production opportunities within Russian Federation. Aleksandr Kamshalov (1932–2019; Russian: Александр Камшалов) was a member of the Communist Party who served as the chairman of the State Committee for Cinematography in the Soviet Union being last Soviet politician who held the post. During his tenure Kamshalov was the most authoritative figure in the Soviet film industry, including the production, theatrical distribution, home video, and import and export of films.
