Sovereign Award For Champion Older Female Horse
The Canadian Champion Older Female Horse is a Canadian Thoroughbred horse racing honour created in 1975 by the Jockey Club of Canada. It is part of the Sovereign Awards program and is awarded annually to the top Thoroughbred Filly four years of age and older competing in Canada. The award was renamed to Champion Older Main Track Female before the 2019 Sovereign Awards. Mountain Angel is a song written and performed by Dolly Parton off of her 2001 album ''Little Sparrow''. Woolloomooloo ( ) is a harbourside, inner-city eastern suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, 1.5 kilometres east of the central business district, in the local government area of the City of Sydney. Bold Ruritana (foaled 1990 in Ontario) is a Canadian Thoroughbred Champion racehorse. She was bred and raced by Minshall Farms, the successful {{convert, 350, acre, km2, adj=on horse farm at Hillsburgh, Ontario owned and managed by trainer Barbara Minshall and her husband, Aubrey. Bold Ruritana was out of the mare, Stage Queen, whose grandsire was Graustark and whose damsire was Nearctic. She was sired by Bold Ruckus, a grandson of the very important North American Champion sire, Bold Ruler. Conditioned for racing by Barbara Minshall, her husband only saw Bold Ruritana race a short time, dying at age sixty-three in November 1993 following complications from a stroke.
