Souvlaki (album)
''Souvlaki'' is the second studio album by English rock music, rock band Slowdive. It was recorded in 1992, and released on 1 June 1993 by Creation Records. On its initial release, ''Souvlaki'' peaked at number 51 on the UK Albums Chart and was greeted with tepid reviews from critics. It has since received retrospective critical acclaim and has been hailed as a classic of the shoegaze genre. Background Prior to the writing of ''Souvlaki'', Slowdive co-vocalists and guitarists Rachel Goswell and Neil Halstead had ended their relationship and Halstead began to spend more time writing songs alone, a process that had been completed by the full band in the past. The album's title was taken from a skit by American comedy duo The Jerky Boys, where one of the duo prank calls a hotel manager asking him to perform sexual acts on his wife. Slowdive
Slowdive is a British rock band that formed in Reading, Berkshire, in 1989. The band consists of Rachel Goswell on vocals and guitar, Neil Halstead on vocals and guitar, Christian Savill on guitar, Nick Chaplin on bass and Simon Scott on drums, all of whom have played on the band's debut ''Just for a Day'' in 1991. Halstead is the band's primary songwriter. Goswell and Halstead had known each other since early childhood. The band is one of the most prominent within the shoegaze scene, which rose to prominence in England during the early 1990s. Suede (band)
Suede (also known in the US as The London Suede) are an English rock band formed in London in 1989 by singer Brett Anderson, guitarist Justine Frischmann, and bass player Mat Osman. Ed Buller
Edmund Wilbur Hudson "Ed" Buller (born 9 August 1962 in Reigate, Surrey) is an English record producer and former musician. He has primarily worked with English bands including Suede, Pulp, The Raincoats and The Courteeners. Biography Buller first became interested in music after his father, composer John Buller, took him to see Stravinsky's ballet, ''The Rite of Spring'', at the age of 6. As a teenager, he joined The Psychedelic Furs as a keyboard player and toured with them for several years. Christian Savill
Christian Savill (born 6 December 1970) is an English musician best known for his work as guitarist of Slowdive. Early life Born in Bury, Lancashire, Savill did not grow up in a musical family, but influenced by The Smiths (and specifically by Johnny Marr) decided to play guitar when he was around fourteen years old. To encourage his decision, his father bought him an electric guitar and it was at this point his family figured out he was left handed. Savill also stated that other guitarists influenced him: "Marr made me want to play the guitar, but also quickly made me want to quit because I realised quickly that I was never gonna be as good. ''Lodger'' is the 13th studio album by English musician David Bowie, released on 25 May 1979 through RCA Records. After an eventful year that saw the release of two studio albums, '' Low'' and '' "Heroes"'', and many other side projects in 1977, Bowie embarked on the Isolar II world tour in 1978.
