Southgate Independent Schools
Southgate Independent Schools is a school district located in Southgate, Campbell County, Kentucky. It is one of four Kentucky school districts that does not operate a high school, only serving students through eighth grade. The Southgate district has reciprocal agreements with multiple Northern Kentucky districts to allow its students to attend high school in those districts. A 2015 report by the Legislative Research Commission, the research arm of the Kentucky General Assembly, indicated that a majority of Southgate high school students then attended Highlands High School in the Fort Thomas district, and a large minority attended Newport High School in that city's district. Other students attended schools in the Bellevue and Ludlow independent districts, as well as the Boone, Campbell, and Kenton county districts. Southgate, Kentucky
Southgate is a home rule-class city in Campbell County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 3,803 at the 2010 census. History The city of Southgate is named for the family of Richard Southgate. Born in New York City, Richard Southgate went to Newport from Richmond, Virginia in 1795. In October 1797, he was licensed to practice law in the court of Kentucky and appointed Commonwealth Attorney for Campbell County in 1798. He was State Representative in 1803 and Senator from 1817 to 1821. Richard died in July 1857 at the age of 83. Richard's home still stands on Third Street in Newport. His son William was a congressman from Northern Kentucky. On May 28, 1977, the Beverly Hills Supper Club in Southgate was engulfed in fire, killing 165 inside. Fort Thomas Highlands High School, also known as Fort Thomas Highlands, is a public secondary school located in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Ludlow, Kentucky
Ludlow is a home rule-class city in Kenton County, Kentucky, United States, along the Ohio River. The population was 4,385 at the 2020 census. It is a suburb of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. It received its greatest period of early growth as a rail station. History In 1790, the land that is now Ludlow was given to Gen. Thomas Sandford as a grant in recognition of his service during the Revolutionary War. Sandford traded the land to Thomas D. Carneal for land in what is now Ft. Mitchell.
