Southfields Academy
Southfields Academy (formerly Southfields Community College) is a secondary school and sixth form with academy status in Southfields (Wandsworth), south west London. It has about 1300 students. Southfields Academy has been rated by Ofsted as either Outstanding or Good since 2001. British Prime Minister Theresa May visited school in 2019 to promote her plan to improve mental health care. Southfields Academy provides the education for AFC Wimbledon’s academy players. Former Education Secretary and local MP, Justine Greening is a regular visitor and supporter of the school. Facilities The Academy has a hearing support center for deaf young people. The International Group at the Academy admits students from abroad; some the children of diplomats or economic migrants. Academy (English School)
An academy school in England is a state-funded school which is directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. The terms of the arrangements are set out in individual Academy Funding Agreements. Most academies are secondary schools, though slightly more than 25% of primary schools (4,363 as of December 2017) are academies. Academies are self-governing non-profit charitable trusts and may receive additional support from personal or corporate sponsors, either financially or in kind. Louis De Bernières
Louis de Bernières (born 8 December 1954) is an English novelist. He is known for his 1994 historical war novel ''Captain Corelli's Mandolin''. In 1993 de Bernières was selected as one of the "20 Best of Young British Novelists", part of a promotion in ''Granta'' magazine. ''Captain Corelli's Mandolin'' was published in the following year, winning the Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best Book. It was also shortlisted for the 1994 Sunday Express Book of the Year. It has been translated into over 11 languages and is an international best-seller. Paul Osew
Paul Asiedu Osew (born 25 November 2000) is an English professional footballer who plays as a left back. Osew is a product of the Brentford and AFC Wimbledon academies and began his professional career with the latter club in 2019. He departed to join Northampton Town in 2023. Career Early years Osew began his youth career with spells as Chelsea Kicks and in the Evolution Sports & Health Academy. Malachi Kirby is a British actor and writer. He gained prominence through his roles in the 2016 ''Roots'' remake and the ''Black Mirror'' episode "Men Against Fire". Linden Lodge School
Linden Lodge School for the Blind is a specialist sensory and physical college located in Wimbledon, South London, England. It educates visually impaired children aged between two and nineteen, including those who are multi-disabled visually impaired.
