Dudley, North Carolina
Dudley is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Wayne County, North Carolina, United States, about 9 miles south of Goldsboro. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 826. Dudley is included in the Goldsboro, North Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Another town named Dudley originally existed several miles north from its current location. It was founded by Labon Lewis, the son of a Revolutionary soldier, named for his deceased brother Dudley Lewis. On January 13, 1840, a post office was established for this town. This office's name was later changed to Everettsville, which was moved to a new location in 1849 and was closed in 1866. Charles Kornegay
Charles MacArthur Kornegay Jr. (born September 28, 1974) is a Spanish-American former professional basketball player. The 6' 9", 235-lb power forward gained notoriety at Villanova University, before going on to star for the Raleigh Cougars of the USBL, and ultimately overseas. Cougars fans called him the "Chuck-wagon", "Chuck Diesel" and "Korn-dawg". Basketball career As a basketball standout at Southern Wayne High School in Dudley, North Carolina, Kornegay was heavily recruited by American universities. He signed with nearby school, North Carolina State University. He played at NCSU for the Wolfpack during the 1993–1994 season, before transferring to Villanova University in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In American football, the long snapper (or deep snapper) is a center on special teams whose duty is to snap the football over a longer distance, typically around 15 yards during punts, and 7–8 yards during field goals and extra point attempts. Overview During field goal and point after touchdown attempts, the snap is received by the holder, typically 7–8 yards away. During punts, the snap is delivered to the punter from 13–15 yards away. Greg Warren (American Football)
Gregory Robert Warren (born October 18, 1981) is a former American football long snapper. He was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2005. He played college football at North Carolina. Warren earned two Super Bowl rings with the Steelers in Super Bowl XL over the Seattle Seahawks and Super Bowl XLIII over the Arizona Cardinals. Mike Olliver
Michael Orlando Olliver (born March 21, 1959) is an American former basketball player. He is best known for his college career at Lamar University, where he was the Southland Conference Player of the Year in 1981. Olliver was born in Temple, Texas, but his family moved to North Carolina, where he played high school basketball for Southern Wayne High School in Dudley. Olliver chose to play college basketball for Lamar and head coach Billy Tubbs and was a part of the Cardinals program's first three division I NCAA tournament appearances. Olliver was a three-time first-team All-Southland Conference pick and as a senior in 1981 was named the Southland Player of the Year after averaging 22.3 points per game. He also led the Cardinals to a Southland tournament title the same year and was named the tournament most valuable player.
