Southern Studios
Southern Studios is a recording studio in the Wood Green area of London. It was founded in 1974 by John Loder, and came to be the recording studio of choice for Crass and their record label Crass Records. Southern Studios Ltd. continues to grow its label and provide label management and distribution services throughout Europe. Background In the 1980s and 90s, Southern Studios Ltd. (SSL) started a record label and a distribution company. The label used the name Southern Records. The distributor uses the name Southern Record Distributors Ltd. (SRD) and took over UK distribution. The distributor is now independently owned. SSL continued to serve the needs of Europe, as well as signing and supporting artists on the Southern Records. Wood Green
Wood Green is a suburban district in the borough of Haringey in London, England. Its postal district is N22, with parts in N8 or N15. The London Plan identifies it as one of the metropolitan centres in Greater London, and today it forms a major commercial district of North London. Formerly lying within the western part of Tottenham and within the county of Middlesex, it became part of both Haringey and Greater London in 1965. Wood Green lies directly to the east of Alexandra Palace. It is from Charing Cross in central London. Sonic Youth
Sonic Youth was an American rock band based in New York City, formed in 1981. Babes in Toyland was an American alternative rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in 1987. Danielle Howle (born in Columbia, South Carolina) is an American singer-songwriter and music producer. Biography After releasing an early song on a Columbia, South Carolina music sampler in the late 1980s, Howle joined the Columbia-based band Lay Quiet Awhile, formed by brothers Dan and Phil Cook in 1989. Howle was the voice on their first full-length album, ''Delicate Wire'', released in 1993. When Lay Quiet Awhile disbanded, Howle embarked on a solo career, beginning with a live album recorded at the University of South Carolina's McKissick Museum. ''Live at McKissick Museum'' was the beginning of a busy period of songwriting and touring. Howle released two solo albums, ''About to Burst'' (1996) and ''Catalog'' (1999). Lung Leg were a Scottish indie band, formed in 1994 and disbanded in 1999. They were influenced by Post Punk, C86, riot grrrl and the Fire Engines. History Lung Leg formed in 1994 in Glasgow, Scotland, with a lineup of McKeown ("Jane Egypt") on bass and vocals, Annie Spandex and Maureen Quinn ("Mo Mo") on guitar and vocals, and Amanda Doorbar ("Jade Green") on drums. The quartet released ''The Negative Delinquent Autopsy'' (1994) and ''Shagg the Tiger'' (1995) EPs on the Piao! label; both were named "Single of the Week" by ''Melody Maker''. Shit And Shine
Shit and Shine is an experimental music project based in Austin, Texas. Formed in 2004 by bandleader Craig Clouse, its percussion-driven sound mixes noise with electronics. Clouse is the only consistent member, with an ever-rotating line-up of musicians. History The project was picked up by the Riot Season label, who issued their debut '' You're Lucky to Have Friends Like Us'' in 2004. Grails is an American instrumental experimental rock band formed in 1999. Based in Portland, Oregon, the group have released seven studio albums, on labels including Southern and Temporary Residence, and have toured across North America and Europe. History Grails was formed under the name "Laurel Canyon" in 1999 by guitarist Alex Hall, drummer Emil Amos (also of Holy Sons and Om) and second guitarist Paul Spitz. Lee "Scratch" Perry (born Rainford Hugh Perry; 20 March 1936 – 29 August 2021) was a Jamaican record producer, composer and singer noted for his innovative studio techniques and production style. Big Black was an American punk rock band from Evanston, Illinois, active from 1981 to 1987. Founded by singer and guitarist Steve Albini, the band's initial lineup also included guitarist Santiago Durango and bassist Jeff Pezzati, both of Naked Raygun.
