Southern Point is an unincorporated community in Scioto Township, Pickaway County, Ohio, Scioto Township, Pickaway County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. The area is located at the border of Pickaway and Franklin County, Ohio, Franklin Counties on Ohio State Route 104. As of 2019, there were more than 500 houses and freestanding condominiums in the community. History In 2001, Dominion Homes began building a housing development in an unincorporated area of Scioto Township, Pickaway County, Ohio. The development would consist of two parts, a traditional housing development on the southern end and the northern end would be freestanding condominiums. Each area would be governed by a homeowner association and would be under the jurisdiction of Scioto Township. Ashville, Ohio
Ashville is a village in Pickaway County, Ohio, United States. The population was 4,097 at the 2010 census. Ashville is located five miles south of Columbus and six miles north of Circleville. History Long before the American settlement of Ohio, Hopewell Native Americans inhabited the lands that became Ashville. The Snake Den Mounds were constructed a few miles outside of the present day village and were believed to have been built prior to C.E. 500. The site was examined in the late 1890s by Warren K. Moorehead, where he found artifacts of the ancient civilization and skeletal remains. Centuries later the primary inhabitants were the Pekowi band of the Shawnee. Commercial Point is a village in Pickaway County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,078 at the 2020 census. It is the fastest-growing community in Pickaway County and one of the fastest-growing villages in central Ohio. It is a suburb of Columbus, OH History Wiley H. Beckett came from eastern Virginia in 1829 and settled on a 238-acre tract west of the present Commercial Point. In 1841 he laid out a community called Genoa. James H. Burnley, also from Virginia, arrived in the area in 1832 and laid out a similar community east of Genoa called Rome. As the two towns grew larger, Rome became the western half, and Genoa the eastern half, of a new single town. When Genoa was incorporated in 1851, Rome was merged into the new village.
