Southern Pacific Railroad Passenger Coach Car-S.P. X7 dates from c. 1875 and was used until 1938. It is a former passenger coach of the Southern Pacific Railroad's Southern Division. The railway vehicle was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, at which time it was located in Yuma, Arizona. It is a representative example of the type of passenger coach car used when the Southern Pacific Railway entered Arizona, in September 1877, at Yuma Crossing. Yuma Quartermaster Depot State Historic Park
Yuma Quartermaster Depot State Historic Park, formerly Yuma Crossing State Historic Park, and now one of the Yuma Crossing and Associated Sites on the National Register of Historic Places in the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area. It is an Arizona state park in the city of Yuma, Arizona, US. The Yuma Quartermaster Depot was an important quartermaster depot during the 1870s. Goods were shipped up the Colorado River from the Gulf of California and stored at Yuma for distribution to the desert frontier forts in the Southwestern United States territories. History Yuma Quartermaster Depot State Historic Park is on the grounds of the former Yuma Quartermaster Depot. The Southern Pacific (or Espee from the railroad initials- SP) was an American Class I railroad network that existed from 1865 to 1996 and operated largely in the Western United States. The system was operated by various companies under the names Southern Pacific Railroad, Southern Pacific Company and Southern Pacific Transportation Company. The original Southern Pacific began in 1865 as a land holding company. The last incarnation of the Southern Pacific, the Southern Pacific Transportation Company, was founded in 1969 and assumed control of the Southern Pacific system. Yuma Crossing is a site in Arizona and California that is significant for its association with transportation and communication across the Colorado River. Southern Pacific Railroad Depot (Yuma, Arizona)
The Southern Pacific Railroad Depot in Yuma, Arizona, was built as a Spanish Colonial Revival-style station by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1926. After Southern Pacific Railroad ceased passenger operations upon Amtrak's start in 1971, the station housed the Yuma Fine Arts Museum. The depot was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The structure was razed in the summer of 1994 after a devastating fire damaged the building in the spring of 1993. It was delisted from the National Register in 2019. Amtrak passengers are now served at the Yuma Amtrak station which consists of two open platforms and a tunnel.
