Southern District Recreation & Sports Assn Ltd (), commonly known as Southern and currently known for sponsorship reasons as Kwoon Chung Southern, is a professional football club based in Southern District, Hong Kong. They currently compete in the Hong Kong Premier League. History Southern District entered the newly formed Hong Kong Third District Division during the 2002–03 season. However, the team did not reach the Hong Kong Third Division League Final Round and thus did not get promotion in the first few years of their history. In the 2006–07 season, they reached the Final Round for the first time since the club was formed. They were the runners up of the Third District Division and qualified for the Final Round, however, they could not get promotion as they only managed to gain two points. Aberdeen Sports Ground
Aberdeen Sports Ground () is a rugby union and football sports ground situated at 108 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Aberdeen, Hong Kong. It is the home stadium of Hong Kong Premier League football club Southern and Global Rapid Rugby rugby union team South China Tigers. Inside the stadium, there is one running track (6 lanes, 400m) and one natural grass pitch. Aberdeen Sports Ground is also the venue for 30 Hour Famine in Hong Kong. After successfully gaining the right to play in the 2012–13 season on 8 April 2012, Southern continued to use Aberdeen Sports Ground as their home ground in the First Division. As a result of Typhoon Mangkhut in September 2018, Aberdeen Sports Ground's West stand and canopy were damaged and deemed unusable. Tse Tak Him (; born 10 February 1985 in Hong Kong) is a Hong Kong professional footballer who currently plays as a goalkeeper for Hong Kong Premier League club Southern. Club career Citizen During the 2010–11 Hong Kong Senior Challenge Shield final against defending champions South China, Tse saved a penalty by Chan Siu Ki in the match, another one by Li Haiqiang in the penalty shoot-out, and helped the team win the match by 7:5 on penalties. Fan Chun Yip
Fan Chun Yip (; born 1 May 1976) is a former Hong Kong professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is currently the goalkeeping coach of Hong Kong Premier League club Southern. Widely considered as one of the best goalkeepers in Hong Kong back in the days, he was voted as the Hong Kong Footballer of the Year in the 2003–04 season. Childhood and early career Fan was born in Hong Kong into a 7-member family. He is the youngest son. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), is a department in the Government of Hong Kong. It reports to the Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau, headed by the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism. Typhoon Mangkhut (), known in the Philippines as Typhoon Ompong, was a powerful and catastrophic tropical cyclone that caused extensive damage in Guam, the Philippines and South China in September 2018.
