Southern Daily
The ''Nanfang Daily'' (), also known as ''Southern Daily'' and ''Nanfang Ribao'', is the official newspaper of the Guangdong provincial committee of the Chinese Communist Party. The paper was established in Guangzhou on October 23, 1949. On October 15, 1949, Ye Jianying arrived in Guangzhou, surrounded and disarmed all speculators, and arrested more than ten journalists for re-education. The premises and equipment of the Kuomintang's '' Central Daily'' were immediately seized and taken over. The paper was changed to ''Nanfang Daily'', first published on October 23. The newspaper is eponymous to the more lively and commercial ''Southern Metropolis Daily'' and part of the giant Nanfang Daily Newspaper Group. In March 2018, ''Nanfang Daily'' won the Third National Top 100 Newspapers in China. Chinese (, especially when referring to written Chinese) is a group of languages spoken natively by the ethnic Han Chinese majority and many minority ethnic groups in Greater China. ''Hua Shang Daily'' (), also known as ''China Commercial Daily'', was a patriotic newspaper for united front led by Liao Chengzhi and Fan Changjiang and published in Hong Kong since 8 April 1941. Due to the outbreak of the Pacific War, it was stopped publishing in that year. After the Japanese surrender, ''Hua Shang Daily'' was restored publishing on 4 January 1946 and became a democratic publication. The newspaper supported democratic movement and opposed to the dictatorship of Chiang Kai-shek. Central Daily
The ''Central Daily News'' was the official newspaper of the Kuomintang and is one of the world's oldest Chinese-language newspapers, having been in circulation since 1928. The Kuomintang made the decision to temporarily cease publication of the newspaper effective June 1, 2006, because it could no longer subsidize the newspaper's snowballing debts, which had amounted to around New Taiwan dollar, NT$ 800 million (US$24.5 million), almost twice the overall assets of the party.
