South Texas League
The South Texas League was a Class C level minor league baseball league that played from 1903 to 1906. League teams were based in Louisiana and Texas. Comprising four teams for its first three years, it expanded to six teams in its final season. Brenham Cotton Pickers
Brenham ( ) is a city in east-central Texas in Washington County, United States, with a population of 17,369 according to the 2020 U.S. census. It is the county seat of Washington County. Washington County is known as the "Birthplace of Texas," as it contains the site of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836 in the town of Washington-on-the-Brazos. This is now a state historic site. Brenham is also known for its annual German heritage festival that takes place each May called Maifest, similar to Volksfest. Denny Lyons
Dennis Patrick Aloysius Lyons (March 12, 1866 – January 2, 1929) was an American Major League Baseball player. He played third base for the Providence Grays (1885), Philadelphia Athletics (1886–90), St. Louis Browns (1891), New York Giants (1892), Pittsburgh Pirates (1893–94 and 1896–97), and St. Louis Browns (1895). Lyons was born in Cincinnati. He reached base by a hit or a walk in 52 consecutive games in 1887. Lyons led the American Association in on-base percentage (.461), slugging percentage (.531) and OPS (.992) in 1890. In 1123 games over 13 seasons, Lyons posted a .310 batting average (1334-for-4300) with 933 runs, 244 doubles, 69 triples, 62 home runs, 756 RBIs, 224 stolen bases, 623 bases on balls, .407 on-base percentage and .442 slugging percentage. Wade Moore
Wade Hampton Moore (June 14, 1876 – June 14, 1956) was an American football and baseball player and coach. Moore was a graduate of the University of Kansas, lettering for the baseball team in 1898 and 1899, and the football team in 1899. Following his college playing career, Moore became the sixth head football coach for the Kansas State Wildcats in Manhattan, Kansas. He held that position for one season, in 1901, and his overall coaching record at Kansas State was 3 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie. Moore also played in some of his team's games in 1901, kicking two field goals in a win over Bethany College. San Antonio Bronchos
The San Antonio Bronchos were a minor league baseball team based in San Antonio, Texas, that played in the South Texas League (1903–1906) and Texas League (1907–1919). The team was also known as the Mustangs (1903–04), Warriors (1905), and Aces (1919). The team won two league championships. The first was in the South Texas League in their inaugural season of 1903, under the guidance of manager Wade Moore. They won their second in 1908, while a member of the Texas League under managerGeorge Leidyand Pat Newnam. On July 23, 1907, the Bronchos lost a game played to the Austin Senators at Riverside Park in Austin by a 44–0 score, when they made a farce of the second game of a doubleheader, after forfeiting the first game over disagreements with the umpire.
