South River Forest
The South River Forest or Weelaunee Forest is a forested area in southeast DeKalb County, Georgia, United States outside Atlanta named after the nearby South River. The area itself is made up of disparate forested regions. The forest once held a prison farm, and it is a proposed site for a police training facility that has garnered protests. History The Muscogee Creek people inhabited the area—which they referred to as the Weelaunee Forest—until they were forcibly displaced in the 1820s and 1830s. Inscribed stones from a Carnegie library are among items dumped in the area. In 1999, Jillian Wootten wrote a historical analysis of the honor farm facility in the forest. Plans to officially designate the area as a national park began in the early 2010s; a smaller portion of it was designated the South River Park in 2017 by the Atlanta City Planning Commissioner Tim Keane. DeKalb County (, , ) is located in the north central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 764,382, making it Georgia's fourth-most populous county. Sound Stage
A sound stage (also written soundstage) is a soundproof, large structure, building, or room with large doors and high ceilings, used for the production of theatrical film-making and television productions, usually located on a secured movie or television studio property. Compared to a silent stage, a sound stage is sound-proofed so that sound can be recorded along with the images. The recordings are known as ''production sound''. A silent stage is not soundproofed and is susceptible to outside noise interference; therefore, sound is not generally recorded. Because most sound in movies, other than dialogue, is added in post-production, this generally means that the main difference between the two is that sound stages are used for dialogue scenes, but silent stages are not. The studio has housed productions of many films and television programs and has worked with Hollywood studios including Disney, Universal, Sony, Warner Bros. and HBO. Killing Of Manuel Esteban Paez Terán
Manuel Esteban Paez Terán, also known as Tortuguita, was a Venezuelan environmental activist and Green anarchism, eco-anarchist who was shot and killed by Georgia State Patrol Troopers, after a Georgia State Patrol Trooper was wounded during a raid of the Stop Cop City encampment on January 18, 2023. Bodycam footage from the incident, after the shooting, includes video recordings of police from the scene speculating that the officer's gunshot injury was the result of friendly fire. Autopsy results showed Paez Terán sustained 57 gunshot wounds, and found no visible gunpowder residue on their hands. However, a Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) report found traces of gunshot primer that could be present from Paez Terán shooting a weapon, police gunshots, or contamination.
