South Island Line (West)
The South Island line (West) is a proposed extension of the Hong Kong MTR metro system. The new line would serve the southwestern coast of Hong Kong Island, between Shek Tong Tsui and Wong Chuk Hang. Plans for the South Island line (West) are mentioned and revised in the government's ''Railway Development Strategy 2014'' (RDS-2014) report. and construction was planned to begin in 2021–2026 in the report. Island Line (MTR)
The Island line is one of eleven lines of the MTR, the mass transit system in Hong Kong. It runs from Kennedy Town in the Western district to Chai Wan in the Eastern District on Hong Kong Island, passing through the territory's major business districts of Central, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay, and connecting them with built-up areas on the north shore of the island. The line first opened on 31 May 1985. As of 2022 it travels in 25 minutes along its route, serving 17 stations. The line is indicated by the colour dark blue on the MTR route map. The Mass Transit Railway (MTR) is a major public transport network serving :Hong Kong. Future Projects Of The MTR
Several future projects on the MTR have been put forward by the MTR Corporation to the Hong Kong Government. Some of these are still in planning stage, some are now completed.
