South Hills High School is a 9-12 public high school in Fort Worth, Texas, United States. It is one of 14 zoned high schools in the Fort Worth Independent School District A fortification is a military construction or building designed for the defense of territories in warfare, and is also used to establish rule in a region during peacetime. The term is derived from Latin ''fortis'' ("strong") and ''facere'' .... History South Hills opened in August 1998 with only a freshman class. The first graduating class, and the first year of 9-12 was 2002. The original school consisted of buildings and property purchased from a private school, Trinity Valley School. Roughly 50 portable classrooms and the original Trinity Valley structures were used until a bond issue in 2000 allowed the school as it is now to be constructed. The ''Fort Worth Star-Telegram'' is an American daily newspaper serving Fort Worth and Tarrant County, the western half of the North Texas area known as the Metroplex.
