South Fork, Saskatchewan
South Fork is an unincorporated community within the Rural Municipality of Arlington No. 79, Saskatchewan, Canada in the Cypress Hills (Canada), Cypress Hills along the course of Swift Current Creek. History South Fork began in 1913. By 1923 there were three grain elevators, a lumber yard, Coffeehouse, cafe, blacksmith, pool hall, feed mill, and general store. A fire in 1928, the depression, and better roads started South Fork on a decline. South Fork is best known for its sole resident, a bearded man by the name of Nicholas Herlinger. The last grain elevator closed in 1974 and moved to an area farm. Dollard, Saskatchewan
Dollard is an unincorporated community, within the Rural Municipality of Arlington No. 79, Saskatchewan, Canada. The community is situated on the historic Red Coat Trail in the southwest corner of the province, 13 km west of the town of Shaunavon and 21 km east of the town of Eastend. It is approximately 100 km from the Montana USA border and 130 km to the Alberta border. History By 1908 enough French speaking settlers had arrived in the region to establish a community which they named Valroy (Val Roy). The name was later changed to Dollard. The name Dollard was chosen by Father Louis-Pierre Gravel (the founder of Gravelbourg) to honour the memory of a hero of New France, Adam Dollard, Sieur des Ormeaux. A post office was established in 1909 and in 1911 the church of ''Sainte-Jeanne d'Arc'' (Joan of Arc) was built. A store soon followed and then a school in 1912. The post office closed in 1988. Eastend, Saskatchewan
Eastend is a town in south-west part of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, situated approximately north of the Montana border and east of the Alberta border. The town is best known for the nearby discovery of a ''Tyrannosaurus rex'' skeleton nicknamed "Scotty" in 1994. The town has used the discovery of this fossil as the main centrepiece in the construction of a museum called the '' T.rex Discovery Centre'', which opened on May 30, 2003. The centre is operated by the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, and contains the RSM Fossil Research Station.
