South Branch is a community in Weldford Parish located on the South Branch River on Route 495, 2.55 km E of West Branch History South Branch had a Post Office 1873-1960. In 1898 South Branch was a farming and lumbering settlement with 1 post office, 1 sawmill, 1 grist mill, and 1 church. The town had a population of 400. The community was also known as Warrens Mills for Thomas W. Warren (1896–1971) and old photographs at Provincial Archives New Brunswick show photos of this old mill. The Warren Family went on to found Warren's Ready Mix, a company now in Five Rivers. Weldford Parish, New Brunswick
Weldford is a civil parish in Kent County, New Brunswick, Canada. For governance purposes it is divided between Richibucto 15 Indian reserve and the local service district of the parish of Weldford, which is a member of the Kent Regional Service Commission (KRSC). Origin of name Weldford was a portmanteau of the names of the two Kent County Members of the Legislative Assembly in 1835, John W. Weldon and John P. Ford. New Brunswick Route 495
Route 495 is a long north–south secondary highway in the northwest portion of New Brunswick, Canada. The route's northern terminus is at the intersection of Route 134 and Route 505. It begins as Centennial Avenue West and travels south-west in the community of Rexton. The road runs parallel to the south bank of the Richibucto River as it travels south-west crossing Childs Creek. The road turns south and comes to the western terminus of Route 470 near Mundleville. The road then follows the St. Nicholas River as it crosses the East Branch River. The road continues to follow the South Branch River into the communities of South Branch, Balla Philip and Murphy Settlement before making a sharp 90 degree turn east. The road continues southeast passing the communities of Bastarache and Saint-Fabien before ending at Route 515 near Saint-Marie-de-Kent. Five Rivers, New Brunswick
Five Rivers is a village in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. It was formed through the 2023 New Brunswick local governance reforms. It encompasses the former village of Rexton. History Five Rivers was incorporated on January 1, 2023. Notable people Five Rivers (Kingston at the time) was the birthplace of Bonar Law, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in 1922–1923. Until the election of Boris Johnson in 2019, who was born in New York City, Law was the only British Prime Minister to be born outside the British Isles. His name is honoured at a recently upgraded community attraction, Bonar Law Common, and also at Bonar Law Memorial High School in Five Rivers. His father Rev. James Law was the Minister for St. Andrew's Church in Five Rivers (Rexton at the time) for many years. William John Bowser, Premier of British Columbia (1915–1916), was born in Rexton.
