The South Bendigo Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Bloods'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the city of Bendigo, Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Bendigo Football Netball League. History South Bendigo was established in 1893 and joined the Bendigo Football League and remains the only club to have continued every season since without a period of recess. Since South Bendigo entered the league in 1893, no club has won more premierships. They sit third on the all-time list of BFL premierships, behind Eaglehawk and Sandhurst. The Bendigo Football Netball League (previously known as the Sandhurst Football Association, Bendigo and District Football Association, Bendigo Football Association and Bendigo Football League) is an Australian rules football and netball competition based in the Bendigo region of Victoria (Australia), Victoria. Formed on 10 June 1881 by the city's three clubs as the ''Sandhurst Football Association'', it is one of the oldest football leagues in Australia, and among its members are some of the oldest football clubs in Australia, including the Castlemaine Football Club, acknowledged as the second oldest football club in Australia and one of the oldest football club, oldest in the world. Arthur Hando
Arthur Hando (6 June 1891 – 14 February 1949) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the South Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Recruited from Victorian Football Association (VFA) club Brunswick, Hando made his senior VFL debut in 1922. He was once reported for shaking the goalpost while Cliff Rankin was preparing to shoot for goal. Bendigo ( ) is a city in Victoria, Australia, located in the Bendigo Valley near the geographical centre of the state and approximately north-west of Melbourne, the state capital. North Melbourne Football Club
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Founded in the suburb of North Melbourne in 1869 and based at the Arden Street Oval, it is the 4th oldest club in the competition and one of the oldest surviving clubs in the world. Leigh Colbert (born 7 June 1975) is a former Australian rules footballer for the Geelong Football Club and the Kangaroos in the Australian Football League (AFL). AFL career 1993–1999: Geelong He made his debut with Geelong in 1993 and became a fearless player, usually playing off half-back, but then found his way as a key-position player. Peter Dean (footballer)
Peter Dean (born 9 March 1965) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton from 1984 to 1998 as a defender. From South Bendigo, Dean won two premierships with Carlton, in 1987 and 1995. After retiring, Dean was also a runner for the Blues. In 2015 Carlton named its father–son academy the ''Peter Dean Father–Son Academy''. Career Peter Dean played 248 games and kicked 41 highly celebrated goals in a career that spanned 15 seasons. He was the ultimate team man, which made him one of the most respected players ever to pull on the Navy Blue jumper. Jack 'Cracker' Knight (21 November 1912 – 17 July 1976) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood and both played for and coached St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A ruckman from South Bendigo, Knight wasn't selected in Collingwood's 1935 premiership team despite playing in the Preliminary Final.
