The South Bend River Rats were a minor league baseball team based in South Bend, Washington. In 1911, the South Bend River Rats played as members of the Class D level Washington State League in their only season of play, finishing last in the four-team league standings. History Minor league baseball began in South Bend, Washington in 1911. The South Bend "River Rats" became members of the four–team Class D level Washington State League. The Centralia Pets, Chehalis Proteges and Raymond Venetians joined South Bend in 1911 league play, as the league reduced from six teams to four. The 1910 Aberdeen Black Cats, Montesano Farmers, Hoquiam Loggers and Tacoma Cubs franchises did not return to league play in 1911, as the Centralia and South Bend franchises joined Chehalis and Raymond. Pacific County is a county in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2020 census, the population was 23,365. Its county seat is South Bend, and its largest city is Raymond. Hoquiam Cougars
Hoquiam ( ) is a city in Grays Harbor County, Washington, United States. It borders the city of Aberdeen at Myrtle Street, with Hoquiam to the west. The two cities share a common economic history in lumbering and exporting, but Hoquiam has maintained its independent identity. It shares a long rivalry with its more populated neighbor, especially in high school sports. Hoquiam (Ho'-kwee-um, or Ho-kwim, to natives) was incorporated on May 21, 1890. Its name comes from a Native-American word meaning "hungry for wood", from the great amount of driftwood at the mouth of the Hoquiam River. The population was 8,776 at the 2020 census. Willapa River
The Willapa River is a river on the Pacific coast of southwestern Washington in the United States, approximately long. It drains an area of low hills and a coastal plain into Willapa Bay, a large estuary north of the mouth of the Columbia River. The river rises in the Willapa Hills in southeastern Pacific County, approximately west of Chehalis. It flows northwest in a winding course past the small communities of Willapa and Raymond. It enters the northwest end of Willapa Bay at South Bend.
