The South African Women's Open is a golf tournament. It was first played in 1988, is sanctioned by the Women's PGA of South Africa and is played as part of the Sunshine Ladies Tour. The tournament has been co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour 2012–2014 and from 2018. Ladies European Tour
The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978. It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England. Like many UK-based sports organisations it is a company limited by guarantee, a legal structure which enables it to focus on maximising returns to its members through prize money, rather than on making profits for investors. The tour is run by a Board of Directors and a Players' Council. Most of the players on the tour are European, with members from more than 40 countries internationally. The tour operates tournaments across five continents. History The U.S.-based LPGA was founded in 1950, but women's professional golf was slower to get established in Europe. In 1978 the Women's Professional Golfers' Association (WPGA) was formed as part of Professional Golfers' Association of Great Britain and Ireland. 2018 Sunshine Ladies Tour
The 2018 Sunshine Ladies Tour was the 5th season of the Sunshine Ladies Tour, a series of professional golf tournaments for women based in South Africa. The season offered a purse of R4,450,000, plus a 100,000 incentive for the Investec Property Fund Order of Merit winner. Julie Tvede
Julie Tvede (born 21 May 1980) is a Danish professional golfer who played on the LPGA Futures Tour and the Ladies European Tour. Amateur career Tvede was member of the Danish national team from 1998 to 2004. She was runner-up in the 2000 and 2001 Danish National Championship and she represented Denmark at the Espirito Santo Trophy in 2002 with Mette Buus and Lisa Holm Sørensen. She played college golf at the University of Tulsa and won the Western Athletic Conference in 2003. Professional career Tvede turned professional in June 2004 and joined the LPGA Futures Tour, where she played until 2006. In 2004 she won the Colorado Women's Open and the Mexico Women's Open. Tandi Cuningham
Tandi McCallum (born 17 April 1986) is a South African professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour (LET). She was runner-up at the 2010 Women's Indian Open and the 2012 Lalla Meryem Cup. Career McCallum started playing golf at age 15 and won six national amateur tournaments. She turned professional in 2008 and joined the LET in 2009. She secured her first professional win at the 2009 South African Women's Open but not a LET-sanctioned event at the time, she had to go back to Q-School at the end of her rookie year to keep her LET card. In 2010 she emerged as part of a 4-way playoff at the Hero Honda Women's Indian Open, eventually losing the playoff to Laura Davies. Caroline Masson
Caroline Masson (born 14 May 1989) is a German professional golfer, currently playing on the Ladies European Tour (LET). Amateur and college career Born and raised in Gladbeck in North Rhine-Westphalia, Masson had a decorated amateur golf career. She competed for Germany in the 2006 Espirito Santo Trophy (World Amateur Team Championship) and won the German Stroke Play Championship. She also represented Europe in the 2005 and 2007 Junior Solheim Cup. The 2012 Ladies European Tour was a series of golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world which took place from February through December 2012. The tournaments were sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET). The tour featured 24 official money events. Carlota Ciganda, a rookie, won the Order of Merit with earnings of €251,290. Marianne Skarpnord
Marianne Skarpnord (born 11 February 1986) is a Norwegian professional golfer playing on the Ladies European Tour. Amateur career As a junior, Skarpnord was considered one of the biggest talents in Norwegian golf. In 2003, she won the Girls Amateur Championship, defeating Beatriz Recari of Spain in the final match. She also won the Junior Solheim Cup with Europe the same year. 2013 Ladies European Tour
The 2013 Ladies European Tour is a series of golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world, which takes place from February through December, 2013. The tournaments are sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET). At present, the tour is scheduled to feature a total of 24 events, including the return of the Ladies Italian Open, which hasn't been on the tour since 2009. It also features the bi-annual Europe vs. USA Solheim Cup, which will rotate its turn to the United States for 2013. Also added to the tour is the Helsingborg Open in Sweden. Leaving the tour for 2013 are the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open (Switzerland), the Ladies Irish Open (Ireland), and the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open (Austria).
