The South Africa national cricket team toured Australia in the 1993–94 season to play three test cricket, test matches against Australia national cricket team, Australia in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. These were played from 26 December 1993 to 1 February 1994. The tour was the first made by the South Africa cricket team to Australia in 30 years and was undertaken as the apartheid system was being dismantled in South Africa and the country transitioned to democratic government. Kepler Wessels captained the South Africans in the first two tests. After a hand injury, Hansie Cronje replaced him for the third test. Allan Border was Australia's captain for the series. Allan Border
Allan Robert Border (born 27 July 1955) is an Australian cricket commentator and former international cricketer. A batsman, Border was for many years the captain of the Australian team. His playing nickname was "A.B.". He played 156 Test matches in his career, a record until it was passed by fellow Australian Steve Waugh. Border formerly held the world record for the number of consecutive Test appearances of 153, before it was surpassed in June 2018 by Alastair Cook, and is second on the list of number of Tests as captain. He was primarily a left hand batsman, but also had occasional success as a part-time left arm orthodox spinner. Border amassed 11,174 Test runs (a world record until it was passed by Brian Lara in 2006). He hit 27 centuries in his Test career. The Boxing Day Test match is a cricket Test match held in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, involving the Australian cricket team and an opposing national team that is touring Australia during the southern summer. It begins annually on Boxing Day (26 December) and is played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Brett Schultz
Brett Schultz (born 26 August 1970) is a former South African cricketer who played in nine Test matches and one One Day International between 1992 and 1997. During the course of his career, he also played for Eastern Province, Western Province and Gauteng. Schultz’s fast-paced left-handed bowling caused major problems for both right- and left-handed batsmen, evidenced by the 20 wickets which fell in the three-Test series against Sri Lanka in 1993–94, his debut tour. Described in 2013 by the ''Indian Express'' as "one of the most intimidating opponents in world cricket", Schultz made his mark on the world stage despite his career being plagued by injury. The CAB Jubilee Tournament, also known as Hero Cup for sponsorship reasons, was a cricket tournament played in India in 1993 to commemorate the Cricket Association of Bengal's diamond jubilee. India, Sri Lanka, West Indies, South Africa and Zimbabwe took part in the multi-nation tournament. Envisaged as a six-nation tournament Pakistan pulled out on 3 November, four days before the commencement of the first game. India beat West Indies in the final of the tournament to win the Hero Cup. Hero Cup was the first cricket event to be sponsored by Hero Honda. The New Zealand national cricket team toured Australia in the 1993–94 season to play in three test matches against Australia before playing in a tri-series with South Africa. The tour began on October 19, in Perth, Western Australia, against an Australian Chairman XI as they played in five warm-up matches before the test matches in Perth, Hobart and Brisbane. New Zealand were captained by Martin Crowe while the Australians were captain by Allan Border. Before the first test, the tourists played in five tour matches, three first-class and two list A matches. In the first test which was played at the WACA Ground, centuries from Ian Healy, Mark Taylor and Andrew Jones would see the match end in a draw.
