South African Sports Confederation And Olympic Committee
The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) ( af, Suid-Afrikaanse Sportkonfederasie en Olimpiese Komitee) is the National Olympic Committee (NOC) and National Paralympic Committee (NPC) for South Africa, and the responsible body for South Africa at the Commonwealth Games. Chad Guy Bertrand le Clos, OIS (born 12 April 1992) is a South African competitive swimmer who is an Olympic, World and Commonwealth Games champion. He is the African record, Commonwealth record, and South African record holder in the short course and long course 200-metre butterfly and the short course 100-metre butterfly. He also holds the African records and South African records in the long course 200-metre freestyle and 100-metre butterfly, and the short course 100-metre freestyle. Daniel Cawdery is a South African chess player who was awarded the International Master title by FIDE in 2014 (Candidate Master title in 2008 and FIDE Master title in 2013). He won the 2015 and 2022 South African Chess Championship, and has played for the South African Chess Olympiad team in 1998, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2018 and 2022. Cawdery qualified for the 2017 Chess World Cup where he was defeated by eventual winner Levon Aronian in the first round. Johannes Manyedi Mabusela (born 4 June 1984) is a South African chess player. He was awarded the title International Master by FIDE. He won the African Junior Chess Championship in 2002. Mabusela tied for 1st–4th with Rodwell Makoto, Ahmed Adly and Daniel Cawdery in the 2012 South African Open, finishing second on tiebreak, the highest finishing South African player. He again finished as the best South African finisher in 2014. In 2019, Mabusela was the outright winner of the South African Open. He played for the South African national team in the Chess Olympiads of 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2018, and in the All-Africa Games in 2003 and 2011. Henry Robert Steel (born 10 July 1989) is a South African chess player. He was awarded the title International Master by FIDE in 2014. He has won the South African Chess Championship twice, in 2007 and 2011 (jointly with Watu Kobese). Steel played for the South African national team at the Chess Olympiads of 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014, and at the All-Africa Games in 2007 and 2011, winning the team silver medal both times. In 2011 he also won an individual silver playing the top board. He tied for 2nd–3rd place with Essam El Gindy in the 2011 African Chess Championship, taking third place on tie-break. This result qualified him for the FIDE World Cup, held later that year. Natalie Du Toit
Natalie du Toit OIG MBE (; born 29 January 1984) is a South African swimmer. She is best known for the gold medals she won at the 2004 Paralympic Games as well as the Commonwealth Games. She was one of two Paralympians to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing; the other being table tennis player Natalia Partyka. Du Toit became the third amputee ever to qualify for the Olympics, where she placed 16th in the 10K, "Marathon", swim.
