Daniel Cawdery
Daniel Cawdery is a South African chess player who was awarded the International Master title by FIDE in 2014 (Candidate Master title in 2008 and FIDE Master title in 2013). He won the 2015 and 2022 South African Chess Championship, and has played for the South African Chess Olympiad team in 1998, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2018 and 2022. Cawdery qualified for the 2017 Chess World Cup where he was defeated by eventual winner Levon Aronian in the first round. He also played in the Chess World Cup 2023, where he was defeated by Cristobal Henriquez Villagra in the first round. International Master
FIDE titles are awarded by the international chess governing body FIDE (''Fédération Internationale des Échecs'') for outstanding performance. The highest such title is Grandmaster (GM). Titles generally require a combination of Elo rating and norms (performance benchmarks in competitions including other titled players). Once awarded, titles are held for life except in cases of fraud or cheating. Open titles may be earned by all players, while women's titles are restricted to female players. 44th Chess Olympiad
The 44th Chess Olympiad (also known as the Indian Chess Olympiad), was organised by the FIDE, Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) in Chennai, the state capital of Tamil Nadu, India from 28 July to 9 August 2022. It consisted of open and women's tournaments, as well as several events designed to promote the game of chess. The event was initially supposed to take place in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, along with the Chess World Cup 2019, but was later moved to Moscow and scheduled for the period from 5 to 17 August 2020. However, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then relocated to Chennai following 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Cristóbal Guillermo Henríquez Villagra (born 7 August 1996) is a Chilean chess player. He was awarded the Grandmaster title by FIDE in 2017, at the age of 20. Career He was awarded the title of International Master following his win in the 2013 Pan-American Youth chess championship in Brazil. He was runner-up in the 2014 Chilean championship, and won it in 2015. Henríquez Villagra won the 2014 Pan American junior championship. He played third board for Chile at the 2014 Chess Olympiad in Tromsø, Norway, scoring 6.5/9. In the 2014 World Under-18 championship he finished in a tie for third. In 2015 he finished in a tie for second at the FIDE zonal in Asunción, then won the playoff against three Grandmasters to qualify for the FIDE World Cup in September of that year.
