Soup2Nuts (sometimes referred to as Soup2Nuts Studios, and formerly part of Tom Snyder Productions) was an American animation studio founded by Tom Snyder. The studio is known for its animated comedy series, its use of Squigglevision, a technique of animation that reuses frames to make the animation look more kinetic, and for its style of improvisation in voice acting. History Tom Snyder, a teacher at Shady Hill School, began designing computer programs in the 1970s to enhance his 4th to 8th grade classes' learning environments. In 1980, Jere Dykema, the parent of one of Snyder's Shady Hill students, gave Snyder $30,000 to establish Computer Learning Connection (later renamed Tom Snyder Productions) for a 30% equity stake. Astroblast!
''Astroblast!'' is an American children's animated television series created by Bob Kolar for Sprout. The show is co-produced by Scholastic Media, Soup2Nuts and debuted on Sprout on July 12, 2014. It began airing on NBC Kids, the Saturday morning programming block on NBC, on October 4, 2014. It is based on the book series ''Astroblast!'' by author and illustrator Bob Kolar. It was the last show produced by Soup2Nuts before their closure on August 7, 2015. In 2021, FilmRise picked up the show for distribution. Currently, the show is available for streaming via the FilmRise and The Roku Channel multimedia platforms in the United States, as well as on the Clan television channel and RTVE Play in Spain. ''Home Movies'' is an American television sitcom created by Brendon Small and Loren Bouchard. The show centers on an eight-year-old aspiring filmmaker, also named Brendon Small, who makes homemade film productions in his spare time with his friends Melissa Robbins and Jason Penopolis. ''WordGirl'' (stylized as ''W✪RD GIRL'') is an American children's Flash animated superhero television series produced by the Soup2Nuts animation unit of Scholastic Entertainment for PBS Kids. The series began as a series of shorts entitled ''The Amazing Colossal Adventures of WordGirl'' that premiered on PBS Kids Go! on November 10, 2006, usually shown at the end of ''Maya & Miguel''; the segment was then spun off into a new thirty-minute episodic series that premiered on September 3, 2007 on most PBS member stations. The series of shorts consisted of thirty episodes, with 130 episodes in the full half-hour series. Tom Snyder (born 1949) is an American animator, writer and producer known for the Squigglevision animation technique. His first success with this method was ''Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist'', starring Jonathan Katz. Snyder is a graduate of Swarthmore College, and as an educator he was inducted into the Association of Educational Publishers Hall of Fame. His educational work includes the series ''Science Court'' and educational computer software, such as FASTT Math. Since stepping down as chairman of "Tom Snyder Productions" he has worked on music composition and writing. In 2011, Snyder teamed up again with Jonathan Katz to create an animated web series, ''ExplosionBus.com'' In 2016, he released a new category of audiobook called an AudioMusical. ''Agent USA'' is a 1984 adventure game designed to teach children spelling, US geography, time zones, and state capitals. Squigglevision is a method of computer animation in which the outlines of shapes are made to wiggle and undulate, emulating the effect of sketchily hand-drawn animation. Tom Snyder of Tom Snyder Productions invented the technique, which his animation studio Soup2Nuts subsequently used in ''Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist'', '' Dick and Paula Celebrity Special'', '' Home Movies'', ''O'Grady'', and '' Science Court''. Compared with traditional animation, Squigglevision is relatively fast and easy to produce. Development Snyder is an educator and video game developer. Snyder, who had a master's degree in teaching, attained a teaching job in the 1970s and eventually began thinking about teaching aids. In 1978, Snyder had a meeting arranged with the head of game acquisitions at Parker Bros. He hoped to present a wood-wire-string contraption named ''Personk'', that was a simplified model of a computer.
