Soundarya
K. S. Sowmya (18 July 1972 – 17 April 2004), better known by her stage name Soundarya, was an Indian actress who worked predominantly in Telugu_cinema, Telugu films and has also worked in Kannada, Tamil language, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam films. She was regarded as one of the greatest actresses in the history of Telugu cinema, Telugu Cinema and the most Successful actress after yesteryear's superstar Savitri (actress), Mahanati Savitri. In 2002, she received the National Film Award for Best Feature Film as a producer for the Kannada film ''Dweepa''. Soundarya Filmography
Soundarya was an Indian actress who worked predominantly in Telugu films in addition to Kannada and Tamil films. She made her film debut through the Kannada film ''Gandharva'' (1992). The following year, she debuted in Telugu and Tamil with the films ''Manavarali Pelli'' and ''Ponnumani'' respectively. She received critical acclaim for her role in the latter. Between 1993 & 1994, she appeared in several commercially successful Telugu films, notably ''Rajendrudu Gajendrudu'', ''Mayalodu'', ''Number One'' and '' Hello Brother''. However, she had her career breakthrough with ''Ammoru'' (1995), a film which garnered her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu. ''Dweepa'' () is a 2002 Indian Kannada-language film by Girish Kasaravalli, based on the novel of the same name by Na D'Souza. It stars Soundarya, Avinash and M. V. Vasudeva Rao in the lead roles. The film deals with the raging issue of building dams and the displacement of natives. It won two National Film Awards, four Karnataka State Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards South. ''Apthamitra'' () is a 2004 Indian Kannada-language horror film directed by P. Vasu, and stars Vishnuvardhan, Soundarya and Ramesh Arvind in the lead roles with Prema, Dwarakish and Avinash in supporting roles. This was Soundarya's last film in her career which ended with two posthumous releases - the other being the Telugu movie '' Shiva Shankar'' which released few days before ''Apthamitra''. The movie is a loosely based on the 1993 Malayalam classic film ''Manichithrathazhu'' with a few scenes borrowed from the 1997 Malayalam film '' Aaraam Thampuran''. Ammoru () is a 1995 Indian Telugu-language Hindu mythological fantasy film directed by Kodi Ramakrishna. The film is produced by Shyam Prasad Reddy, under M. S. Arts Unit.
