Soundaraj Periyanayagam
Soundaraj Periyanayagam (6 June 1949 – 21 March 2020) was an Indian Roman Catholic bishop and salesian priest. Periyanayagam was born in India and was ordained to the priesthood in 1983. He served as bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Vellore The Roman Catholic Diocese of Vellore ( la, Velloren(sis)) is a diocese located in the city of Vellore in the Ecclesiastical province of Madras and Mylapore in India. A bishop is an ordained clergy member who is entrusted with a position of authority and oversight in a religious institution. In Christianity, bishops are normally responsible for the governance of dioceses. The role or office of bishop is called episcopacy.
