Sound Summit
Sound Summit is an annual independent conference / festival focusing on exploratory and innovative independent music that takes place in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia as part of the annual This Is Not Art Festival. It was founded in 2000 by Sebastian Chan, Kenny Sabir and Marcus Westbury and evolved in part from the involvement of musicians in the Electrofringe festival that took place in Newcastle at that time. Sound Summit exists to support the development of independent in Australia. It typically consists of a series of artist development workshops examining production techniques, mastering, and sound manipulation and a focus on business development covering licensing, royalties, label management, and promotion focusing specifically on the needs of independent labels and independent artists. B(if)tek was an Australian electronic music duo comprising Kate Crawford and Nicole Skeltys, which formed in Canberra in 1994. They released three albums, ''Sub-Vocal Theme Park'' (1996), ''2020'' (2000) and ''Frequencies Will Move Together'' (2003) before disbanding in 2003. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1999, B(if)tek were nominated as Best Dance Release for the track "Bedrock", which appeared on their second album. Lucky Dragons
Lucky Dragons is an experimental music group consisting of Luke Fischbeck and Sarah Rara. Based in Los Angeles, California, the band are noted for their unusual sound, described as having the ability to make "'everyday sounds' become alluringly other". Lucky Dragons' performances include live music, video projection, and sounds created in collaboration with the audience. They have performed at the Smell, Echo Curio, Dublab, KCHUNG at major international art institutions and at the 2008 Whitney Biennial. Nasenbluten were an Australian electronic music group, formed in Newcastle in 1992. The group was made up of Aaron Lubinski, David Melo, and Mark Newlands, and released six studio albums before disbanding in 2001. Keith Fullerton Whitman (born May 29, 1973) is an American electronic musician who has recorded albums influenced by many genres, including ambient music, drill and bass, and krautrock. He records and performs using many aliases, of which the best-known is Hrvatski (the Croatian word for ''Croatian''). His works under the Hrvatski moniker mainly fell under the 'drill and bass' subgenre of IDM, and were his main musical outlet in the mid-to-late 1990s. Andrez Simon Bergen is an Australian musician and writer. , Bergen lived in Tokyo, Japan with his wife, Yoko Umehara, and their daughter Cocoa. Curse Ov Dialect is an alternative hip hop group based in Melbourne. It consists of Raceless, Volk Makedonski, Atarungi, and Paso Bionic. They are the first Australian hip-hop group to be signed to an American record label. They have been described as having a "wild theatricality with an urgent street politic, the raw cultural expression with collagist, first-generation hip-hop aesthetics, surrealism with activism."
