Soulfire (comics)
''Soulfire'' is a comic book produced by Aspen MLT that is one in a line of titles created by Michael Turner. The original characters were created between 2000 and 2002 with ''Soulfire'' (originally named ''Dragonfly'') set to be produced under Top Cow, although that never came to be. Only when Michael Turner started his company, Aspen MLT, did the comic begin production in April 2003. Publication history The ''Soulfire'' 'preview' issue was first printed in '' Wizard'' magazine #139 in March 2003. The preview introduced the two central protagonists of the story, Malikai and Grace. Plot summary ''Soulfire'' is centered around the idea of "magic" being gone from the world. The story follows a boy named Malikai and a rag tag team of magical beings and cyborgs. Michael Turner (comics)
Michael Layne Turner (April 21, 1971 – June 27, 2008) was an American comics artist known for his work on ''Witchblade'', '' Fathom'', ''Superman/Batman'', '' Soulfire'', and various covers for DC Comics and Marvel Comics. He was also the president of the entertainment company Aspen MLT. Early life Michael Turner was born in Crossville, Tennessee on April 21, 1971. He was a student at the University of Tennessee, and graduated from the International Performing Arts Academy after which he moved to San Diego, California, where he developed an interest in comics. Career Turner was discovered by Marc Silvestri at a convention and hired by Silvestri's Top Cow Productions as an artist. He initially did background illustrations for Top Cow titles before co-creating ''Witchblade''. Peter Steigerwald
Peter Steigerwald is an American comic book artist primarily known for his work as a colorist and his work at Aspen Comics. He has also worked in inking, writing, and graphic design. Career Steigerwald first worked with Top Cow Productions, colouring covers and interiors and designing most of their comic book productions. Peter also painted a number of trading cards for such popular Top Cow comics as Witchblade and Fathom. In 2003, Peter, along with many other Top Cow artists and staff, moved away from Top Cow with Michael Turner to form a new comic company known as Aspen Comics. There, Peter took on a much larger role, acting as Vice President of Publishing, as well as continuing to use his graphic design and colouring skills. Ongoing Series
In comics, an ongoing series is a series that runs indefinitely. This is in contrast to limited series (a series intended to end after a certain number of issues thus limited), a one shot (a comic book which is not a part of an ongoing series), a graphic novel, or a trade paperback. However, a series of graphic novels may be considered ongoing as well. The term may also informally refer to a current or incomplete limited series with a predetermined number of issues. Characteristics An ongoing series is traditionally published on a fixed schedule, typically monthly or bimonthly but many factors can cause an issue to be published late. In the field of comic books, a limited series is a comics series with a predetermined number of issues. A limited series differs from an ongoing series in that the number of issues is finite and determined before production, and it differs from a One-shot (comics), one shot in that it is composed of multiple issues. The term is often used interchangeably with miniseries (mini-series) and maxiseries (maxi-series), usually depending on the length and number of issues. In Dark Horse Comics' definition of a limited series, "this term primarily applies to a connected series of individual comic books. A limited series refers to a comic book series with a clear beginning, middle and end".
