The Sostro District (; sl, Četrtna skupnost Sostro), or simply Sostro, is a district () of the City Municipality of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It is named after the former village of Sostro. Josip Egartner
Josip Egartner (27 March 1809 – 2 May 1849) was a Slovene painter of Austrian origin. Life and work Josip Egartner was born as Josip Pessentheiner on 27 March 1809 in Gmünd, Carinthia. He was adopted by the painter Leopold Layer (1752–1828), who was married to Marija Egartner, a relative of Josip Egartner. The couple did not have children of their own, and Layer taught Egartner to paint. Egartner's works are primarily of local significance. In 1834 and 1835 he painted the frescos in the leftmost of the three churches at Rosalnice. Podgrad, Ljubljana
Podgrad () is a settlement east of the capital Ljubljana in central Slovenia. It belongs to the City Municipality of Ljubljana. It lies on the right bank of the Ljubljanica River at the entrance into the Besnica Valley. The Ljubljanica in turn flows into the Sava immediately northeast of the settlement core. Mureck ( sl, Cmurek, archaic: ''Cmürek'') is a municipality in the district of Südoststeiermark in the Austrian state of Styria. Jean-Valentin Metzinger (19 April 1699, Saint-Avold – 12 March 1759, Ljubljana) was a French-born Austrian-Slovenian painter, in the Baroque style. Life and work His ancestors were originally from Italy. He was one of twelve children born to François Metzinger (died 1721), and his wife, Maria Magdalena née Valentini; including his twin brother, Jean-Philippe. Where he had his first painting lessons is unknown. He later studied in Bologna, Venice and Rome, but there is no record of attendance at any academies. In Rome, his primary contacts were with other French artists, although he seems to have been influenced by Guido Reni, Peter Paul Rubens and Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, among others.
