''Sortir'' is a 2009 studio album recorded by French singer Gérald de Palmas. It was his fifth solo album and his seventh album overall, released on 16 November 2009 (AZ/Universal Music). The three singles off the album were "Au bord de l'eau", which was much aired on radio and number 25 in Belgium, "Dans une larme" and "Mon coeur ne bat plus". The album was successful, peaking at number two in France, on both physical and digital charts, number four in Belgium. Gérald Gardrinier (; born 14 October 1967 in Saint-Denis, Réunion), better known by his stage name Gérald de Palmas, is a French singer-songwriter. Biography Early life Gérald de Palmas was born in France. His father was a land surveyor from Brittany and his mother was a French teacher from Réunion. At the age of 10, De Palmas' family left Réunion, to live in Aix-en-Provence, France. At the age of 13, he discovered ska music, and became a fan of the UK band The Specials. Then he met Étienne Daho and formed a group called ''Les Max Valentin'' together with Edith Fambuena and Jean-Louis Pierot. They released the single 'Les Maux Dits' in 1987, but De Palmas was uncomfortable with this group, and went solo. After seven years of writing and singing solo, Da Palmas won a talent contest on the French M6 TV network. ''Un homme sans racines'' is a 2004 album recorded by French singer Gérald De Palmas. It was his fourth studio album and his fifth album overall, and his most successful in terms of peak positions. It reached number one in France in its first week of release, on 24 November 2004, and remained for 14 non-consecutive weeks in the top ten and 97 weeks in the top 200. In Belgium (Wallonia), it peaked at No. 6 in its third week on 20 November 2004 and stayed for 53 weeks in the top 40. It achieved moderate success in Switzerland where it reached number 36 and was ranked for 18 weeks. This album was more intimate than the previous ones, with less music, but still in the same melancholic style. It provided a sole single : "Elle danse seule", which was No. 22 in France. Pandora's Box
Pandora's box is an artifact in Greek mythology connected with the myth of Pandora in Hesiod's c. 700 B.C. poem ''Works and Days''. Hesiod reported that curiosity led her to open a container left in the care of her husband, thus releasing physical and emotional curses upon mankind. Later depictions of the story have been varied, while some literary and artistic treatments have focused more on the contents than on Pandora herself. The container mentioned in the original account was actually a large storage jar, but the word was later mistranslated. His 1997 single "Save Tonight" achieved commercial success in Ireland, the United States and the United Kingdom, and was voted song of the year in New Zealand.
