''Sorry!'' is the debut studio album by American alternative rock band Catherine. It was released on November 1, 1994, through TVT Records. Critical reception ''The Washington Post'' wrote: "The motto on the front of Catherine's ''Sorry'' -- 'better living through noise' -- seems about as dated as the sound of this Chicago quintet." Catherine (alternative Rock Band)
Catherine was an American alternative rock band from Chicago, Illinois, United States, that was active from 1985 to 1998. They were signed to TVT Records. Breakup In 1997, Catherine toured the US and Europe, opening for bands like Garbage (band), Garbage and the Lemonheads in the US, and played several large festivals in Europe, including Reading Festival, Reading (UK), Bizarre Festival, Bizarre (Cologne), and Rocknacht (Leuven). After their 1997 tour, the band began recording a new LP in the studio they built in a remodeled barn outside Watervliet, Michigan. Meanwhile, TVT Records would not return the band's phone calls. Opting out of their contract, Catherine was unable to secure a contract with another label. Although a total of 13 songs were written and recorded, none of the songs from those sessions were ever released, although at least one, "Flight 518" was re-recorded in a later project by Rew. Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). In recent years digital masters have become usual, although analog masters—such as audio tapes—are still being used by the manufacturing industry, particularly by a few engineers who specialize in analog mastering. Smart Studios
Smart Studios was a recording studio located in Madison, Wisconsin. It was set up in 1983 by Butch Vig and Steve Marker to produce local bands. The studio produced bands such as Killdozer, The Smashing Pumpkins, L7, Tad, and Nirvana. After initial production and remix successes, the building became the focus of operations for Vig and Marker's own band, Garbage, who released their debut album in 1995. The studio survived various mishaps, including flooding, and in 2003, a backhoe crashing through the walls of the downstairs studio. On May 1, 2010, the studio closed its doors because of financial difficulties, although in September 2013, producer and musician Brian Liston re-opened the former Smart Studios facility as Clutch Sound. Madison is the county seat of Dane County and the capital city of the U.S. state of Wisconsin.
