Sorriso Esporte Clube, commonly known as Sorriso, is a Brazilian association football, football club based in Sorriso, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso state. They competed in the Copa do Brasil twice. History The club was founded on July 20, 1985. Sorriso Esporte Clube won the Campeonato Matogrossense in 1992 and in 1993. Sorriso
Sorriso is a municipality in the state of Mato Grosso in the Central-West Region of Brazil. The name of the city means literally "smile", but it actually came from the Italian immigrants who only cultivated rice in the region: "only rice" = "só riso". Mato Grosso ( – lit. "Thick Bush") is one of the states of Brazil, the third largest by area, located in the Central-West region. The state has 1.66% of the Brazilian population and is responsible for 1.9% of the Brazilian GDP. The Copa do Brasil ( en, Brazil Cup) is a knockout football competition played by 92 teams, representing all 26 Brazilian states plus the Federal District. It is the Brazilian domestic cup and the Brazilian equivalent of the FA Cup, Taça de Portugal, Copa del Rey, Scottish Cup and Copa Argentina.
