Richard Sorge
Richard Sorge (russian: Рихард Густавович Зорге, Rikhard Gustavovich Zorge; 4 October 1895 – 7 November 1944) was a German-Azerbaijani journalist and Soviet military intelligence officer who was active before and during World War II and worked undercover as a German journalist in both Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan. His codename was "Ramsay" (). A number of famous personalities considered him one of the most accomplished spies. Sorge is most famous for his service in Japan in 1940 and 1941, when he provided information about Adolf Hitler's plan to attack the Soviet Union. Then, in mid-September 1941, he informed the Soviets that Japan would not attack the Soviet Union in the near future. A month later, Sorge was arrested in Japan for espionage. He was tortured, forced to confess, tried and hanged in November 1944. Stalin declined to intervene on his behalf with the Japanese. Reinhard Sorge
Reinhard Sorge (29 January 1892, Berlin, German Empire – 20 July 1916, Ablaincourt, France) was a German people, German dramatist and poet. He is best known for writing the Expressionism (theatre), Expressionist play ''The Beggar (Sorge), The Beggar'' (''Der Bettler''), which won the Kleist Prize in 1912 and almost singlehandedly created modern theatrical stagecraft. After being subsequently received into the Roman Catholic Church, Sorge began an effort to bring the Catholic literary revival into the literature of the Germanosphere. Instead, Sorge was conscripted into the Imperial German Army in World War I in 1915. He was killed in action during the Battle of the Somme in the summer of 1916. Friedrich Adolf Sorge
Friedrich Adolph Sorge (9 November 1828 – 26 October 1906) was a German communist political leader who emigrated to the United States, where he played an important role in the labor movement, including the foundation of the Socialist Labor Party of America. Early years Friedrich Adolph Sorge was born on 9 November 1828 in Bethau, Saxony, Germany, son of the Reverend Georg Sorge and Hedwig Lange. His father was a free-thinking person, and often gave shelter to Polish revolutionaries travelling from France and Belgium to Poland. He was 19 when the revolutions of 1848 in the German states began. He joined a group of armed revolutionaries in Saxony, but they were quickly suppressed by Pomeranian troops and Sorge was forced to take refuge in Switzerland. He returned to Germany and joined the Karlsruhe Freikorp. His unit fought the Prussians in Baden and the Palatinate, losing both times. In June 1849 Sorge again took refuge in Switzerland. Tino Sorge (born 4 March 1975) is a German lawyer and politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Saxony-Anhalt since 2013. Giuseppe Sorge (1857–1937) was an Italian historian, prefect and director of the public security. He was born in Sutera, Sicily. Biography He came from a rich and distinguished family of Mussomeli. Son of Carmelo Sorce (1820–1896), administrator of the goods of Lanza Branciforte of Trabia, and of Maria Crocifissa Nola. In 1884 he married Maria Carolina Crima (1862–1917), nephew of Paolo Paternostro, Red Cross nurse who died during the First World War to fatal disease he contracted in the hospital in Brescia where he lavished. He graduated in law at the College of San Rocco, Palermo. Admitted in service on May 12, 1880, in 1887 he was appointed ''Regio delegato straordinario'' of Bronte, during the epidemic of cholera. Sorge (Eider)
The Sorge is a right affluent of river Eider in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. According to the actual naming, it has a length of . It is formed by the confluence of two streams or small rivers. The shorter one is called Stente. It is the outlet of a lake called Bistensee. Half way it passes the mill's pond of the hamlet of Stenten. Below this pond it was called "Sorge", too, as late as in official maps printed in the year 2000. The main affluent of ''Bistensee'' and the length of this lake included, this top tributary is long. The other top tributary is longer, . Its upper section is called ''Boklunder Au'', the lower one ''Mühlenau'', in 2000 still ''Mühlenbach''. But there is another ''Mühlenbach'' (''mill stream''), nearby, joining river Sorge from the left (i. e. southern) side. From the confluence of its sources, river Sorge mainly flows westward. Gustav Hermann Sorge (24 April 1911 – 3 October 1978), nicknamed "''Der eiserne Gustav''" ("Iron Gustav") for his brutality, was an SS senior NCO (''Hauptscharführer''). He was initially a guard at Esterwegen concentration camp in the Emsland region of Germany. Later on, he was assigned to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. Career Among the many people who were murdered at Sachsenhausen by Sorge was Leon Sternbach, a professor of classical philology at the Jagiellonian University and the paternal uncle of famed chemist, Leo Sternbach.
