Soraya Darabi
Soraya Darabi ( fa, ‘’Soraya Darabi’’; born 23 September 1955) is an Iranian teacher, journalist and trade union activist. She was editor of the ''Teacher's Pen Weekly Paper'' and vice president of the Iran Teachers Trade Association (ITTA). Union activities Soraya Darabi was vice president of the ITTA and editor of ''Teacher's Pen Weekly Paper'' (هفته نامه قلم معلم) on May 9, 2007 when the Iranian security guards attacked teachers gathering in Tehran in front of the Iranian Islamic Parliament and arrested 22 teachers including Soraya Darabi. By Islamic Revolutionary Court’s decision, she was detained in Evin prison for 10 days before her release in exchange for $40,000 in bail. Ahvaz
Ahvaz ( fa, اهواز, Ahvâz ) is a city in the southwest of Iran and the capital of Khuzestan province. Ahvaz's population is about 1,300,000 and its built-up area with the nearby town of Sheybani is home to 1,136,989 inhabitants. It is home to Persians, Arabs, Bakhtiaris, Dezfulis, Shushtaris, and others. Languages spoken in the area include Persian and Arabic, as well as dialects of Luri ( Bakhtiari), Dezfuli, Shushtari, and others. Defenders Of Human Rights Center
The Defenders of Human Rights Center is an Iranian human rights organization. Organization Based in Tehran, the organization was founded in 2001 and has been active in defending rights of women, political prisoners and minorities in Iran. Several of the most prominent Iranian lawyers founded the organization and are members. Shirin Ebadi, 2003 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, is the current president of DHRC. Ebadi along with four other notable Iranian lawyers, Abdolfattah Soltani, Mohammad Seifzadeh, Mohammad Ali Dadkhah and Mohammad Sharif, Mehdi Afsharzadeh were the founding members of the organization. Narges Mohammadi joined the organization in 2003 and went on to become its vice president. The center is a member of the International Federation for Human Rights and received the 2003 Human Rights Award of the French National Commission of Human Rights. Amnesty International (also referred to as Amnesty or AI) is an international non-governmental organization focused on human rights, with its headquarters in the United Kingdom.
