Sopron ( hu, Soproni járás; german: Kreis Ödenburg) is a district in western part of Győr-Moson-Sopron County. ''Sopron'' is also the name of the town where the district seat is found. The district is located in the Western Transdanubia Statistical Region. Geography Sopron District borders with the Austrian state of Burgenland to the north and west, Kapuvár District to the east, Sárvár District and Kőszeg District ''( Vas County)'' to the south. Districts of Hungary are the second-level divisions of Hungary after counties. They replaced the 175 subregions of Hungary in 2013. Altogether, there are 174 districts in the 19 counties, and there are 23 districts in Budapest. Districts of the 19 counties are numbered by Arabic numerals and named after the district seat, while districts of Budapest are numbered by Roman numerals and named after the historical towns and neighbourhoods. In Hungarian, the districts of the capital and the rest of the country hold different titles. Fertőszéplak
Fertőszéplak is a village in Győr-Moson-Sopron county, Hungary. Fertődszéplak is one of the Hungarian villages on the international Lake Neusiedl Bike Trail. Other Hungarian places on the course are Fertőd, Hegykő, Fertőhomok, Hidegség, Fertőboz, Balf und Fertőrákos. The important Hungarian noble family Széchenyi originated from Fertöszéplak and lived here until they moved to Nagycenk in the 18th century. The baroque Allsaints church was built in 1726 under Count György Széchenyi. Besides the church is a small calvary. The Széchenyi castle is situated opposite the church. The Village Museum: On the Széplaki Road you can find several examples of baroque farmhouses. Five of them contain the village museum. These nicely restorated buildings exhibit examples of history and work and life of the common people around the Lake Neusiedl. Fertőszentmiklós is a small town in Győr-Moson-Sopron county, Hungary. Geography Fertőszentmiklós is located on the Small Plain and it is part of the Transdanubian region. It has a population of 3854 people (2015). Fertőszentmiklós is very well situated because it's close to the Hungarian-Austrian border. Fertőrákos
Fertőrákos (german: Kroisbach) is a village in the county of Győr-Moson-Sopron in Hungary. In 2001 it had a population of 2,182. It is located at , about from Sopron, near Lake Fertő (German: ''Neusiedler See'') and the Austrian border. In summer, a border checkpoint for pedestrians and cyclists connects it to the Austrian municipality of Mörbisch am See ( hu, Meggyes). The Fertorakos mithraeum is visible near the border. Fertőrákos also features a small port with a border checkpoint, and a sand beach swimming area, access to which prior to 1989 was restricted to the communist elite. The village was first mentioned in 1199 under the name ''Racus''. In 1457 it was first mentioned in German language as ''Krewspach'', later ''Kroisbach''. Fertőd
Fertőd is a town in the Győr-Moson-Sopron county of Hungary, not far from Austria. Fertőd was formed when the towns of Eszterháza and Süttör were unified, in 1950. It is the location of one of Hungary's best known palaces, Eszterháza, which was built in the 1760s by Prince Prince Nikolaus I Esterházy of the influential Esterházy family.
