Sopolis Of Macedon
Sopolis ( grc, Σώπολις), son of Hermodorus, was hipparch of the ile of Hetairoi from Amphipolis, since at least the Triballian campaign of Alexander the Great 335 BC. That he belonged to the Macedonian aristocracy is indicated not only by his important cavalry command but also by the fact that his son, Hermolaus Hermolaus of Macedon ( el, Ἑρμόλαος) was a page to Alexander the Great in 327 BC, who was executed for planning regicide. Hermodorus
Hermodorus ( el, Ἑρμόδωρος), an Ephesian who lived in the 4th century BC, was an original member of Plato's Academy and was present at the death of Socrates. He is said to have circulated the works of Plato (combined Socratic tenets with the Eleaticism of Parmenides), and to have sold them in Sicily. Hermodorus himself appears to have been a philosopher, for we know the titles of two works that were attributed to him: ''On Plato'' ( el, Περὶ πλάτωνος), and ''On Mathematics'' ( el, Περὶ μαθημάτων).Cf. Amphipolis
Amphipolis ( ell, Αμφίπολη, translit=Amfipoli; grc, Ἀμφίπολις, translit=Amphipolis) is a municipality in the Serres (regional unit), Serres regional unit, Macedonia (Greece), Macedonia, Greece. Triballian Campaign
The Triballi ( grc, Τριβαλλοί, Triballoí, lat, Triballi) were an ancient people who lived in northern Bulgaria in the region of Roman Oescus up to southeastern Serbia, possibly near the territory of the Morava Valley in the late Iron Age. The Triballi lived between Thracians to the east, Illyrians the west and Celts to the north and were influenced by them.
